The AFL will need to 'spin it' because the window closes tomorrow for delisted players to go to clubs as free agents. If the AFL let's Tippett do it after Friday's hearing but before the PSD other clubs, especially those with designs to grab him in the PSD will rightly be asking questions...Driver of the Dan Hannebery bandwagon....all aboard. 4th April 09Comment

No, it didn't go through to the keeper at all. The AFL forced GWS to include Pa Scully's payments in their salary cap.Comment

Wouldn't surprise to see after the hearing on Friday that Tippett is allowed to be delisted and come to the Swans prior to the PSD.
The AFL will spin it along the lines of 'Tippett was denied the opportunity to be delisted and move to the Swans in the normal window due to the extenuating circumstances surrounding the AFC, therefore the AFL has accepted Tippett should be now allowed to persue that option'....Comment

Not only that, but they drafted Jacksch, Plowman, Corr, Stewart and Sam Frost (elevated from rookie list). So that's 5 more KPPs vying for spots.Comment

Oh, don't worry, it's very much wishful thinking, but I also think it's a chance.
On Friday, if Tippett is cleared of any knowledge of dodgy dealings and any shady deals were orchestrated by his manager and some officials of the AFC, what do the AFL do when Tippett reminds them they have @@@@@@ him about for the past 6 weeks including restricting him from being delisted and/or traded like every other player in the AFL had the opportunity to do?Driver of the Dan Hannebery bandwagon....all aboard. 4th April 09Comment

Just read the O'Keefe article again. Interesting how the odd letter or two can give a certain impression of what may be in the wind. In relation to Tippett and his impact on the Swans, O'Keefe uses the term "He'll be...." several times when I would have thought the term "He'd be ....." would be more in keeping with the supposed knife's-edge situation relating to his future.
A couple of other interesting observations - GWS have gone quiet, even giving out hints that they need future salary cap room for their youngsters as well as saying they "now have every thing they need" after the draft. Tippett's camp and the AFL have gone totally silent - no more mention of court action etc., even though the Wednesday FA deadline approaches. And up until now, there has not been a word spoken by a Sydney player about the possible Tippett recruitment. Suddenly ROK is talking about Tippett as if he's in the team. Am I a sucker for conspiracy theories, or do things smell of a "gentleman's agreement" whereby the courts can be kept out of things?Comment

Heard Jude Bolton interview on SEN just now. (podcast available) Said he knew nothing of what was happening with KT but was trawling all the papers for info. Said he would be a great acquisition. Also said the coaches liaised closely with the leadership group on all possible recruits and the closeness of the players and the coaches was a pillar on which the club's success was based. (So much for the players being peeved about KT). Also said that if they didn't get him they would move on as they still had and exciting list. Those who have the greatest power to hurt us are those we love.Comment

As far as the current player group being upset over Tippett, that was always a silly suggestion.
We all know that the leadership group is involved in most discussions.
No team would pick up a player ho (for whatever reason) would upset the current squad - particularly the Swans who pride themselves on their unity etc etcThe difference between insanity and genius is measured only in success.Comment

Poor old Kurt. He cops it from everywhere - "RATHER than retire Kurt Tippett's No.4 guernsey in disgust, the Crows have handed it to the player former recruiting manager Matt Rendell brought in to replace him - Josh Jenkins." A mate of mine is good friends with one of Swans, he's been saying all along, even after the salary cap breach was announced, that Tippett will end up at the Swans. I think the Club are very confident of getting him.Comment

Good to hear the players are happy. Especially now that the real reason he left is the new away stripYou don't ban those who supported your opponent, you make them wallow in their loserdom by covering your victory! You sit them in the front row. You give them a hat! Toby ZieglerComment
