Bet there were red faces at the Herald Sun when The Age put up Quayle's article on the Crows last night and a mad scramble as to how they could counter such a well researched and presented story.
BTW, speaking of crap AFL journalists/commentators, has there been any apology/retraction from that buffoon Brian Taylor about Mike Pyke?Comment

Tippett?

Surely his channel 7 colleagues have to practically force him to apologise, he can't live that down.Comment

The story has turned out to be what was fairly obvious all along. Tippett was going to GC. Adelaide offered him the world to stay another 2 years. He took it with the intent of leaving anyway. Adelaide stupidly didn't trade him in 2011, so found itself in a position where Tippett could walk for nothing to the PSD and get picked up by either GWS or GC, so Tippett knew he could always come to the East Coast. We offered him the best deal so he took it. As was revealed in the story, Adelaide knew full well they had to accept whatever was offered. We really were not in a position to offer more than we did for him and didn't take advantage of the so called get out clause. I think we are as clean as anyone could be given the circumstances. I don't think Tippett will get more than a slap on the hand. Maybe a ban from the NAB cup and a fine. It will be hard to prove he did anything wrong other than allowing his agent to negotiate for him without checking the legalities, but will see more tomorrow.Comment

On the off contract payments matter, it would seem that if Tippett is punished, why not Dangerfield and Van Burlo as well. Should they too be held responsible to know that their employer was breaking the rules?
As for the 'get out clause', it seems to be quite a technical matter regarding draft tampering that even the experts are not sure of, so why should Tippett know if it was fully legit if it were negotiated by those having much more expertise in these matters.
Will be interesting to see the AFL's interpretation.Comment

And yet a 3rd point on the Tippett matter. Given the stories that have come out about the ongoing negotiations with the AFL on this matter, I would imagine that Tippett's side of things have been settled as well. Part of the deal is that Tippett will get to the Swans, his sentence has been agreed upon, and he will not take anyone to court. No hard evidence, but just seems likely putting the pieces together.Comment

Jono2707 is correct, the Swans brand will suffer some collateral damage just by proximity (association is too strong a word) with this scandal DirtyKurt. There's no evidence that we did anything wrong, but in the "court of public opinion" evidence isn't all that important.
Speaking of which I was in Melbourne yesterday and flicked on the car radio, and was interested to hear Daniel Harford telling all and sundry that DirtyKurt wasn't worth what he's being offered. That he's worth half a mill a season, no more, and we would be paying "overs."
Which I thought strange because during the trade period he was suggesting our first draft choice plus Jessica would involve us paying "unders."
Frankly the melbourne media can go bite themselves, they treat us like pariah's. From an iinsular melbourne point of view having heathen foreigners win their flag is horrible, but having an apostate club win the flag is even worse.Comment

Emma Quayle's article is a breath of fresh air in this innuendo laden saga. She says it how it is and doesn't put words into people's mouth which was annoying Royboy. It got a bit convoluted at one stage but that wasn't her fault as the decision making of the principal players became weirder by the minute.
I'm assuming quite a few AFC supporters will dismiss it as it doesn't bad mouth Tippett or the Swans as much as they would like

I love going to the Bigfooty Adelaide thread as it is a classic example of people believe what they want to believe and have trouble looking at things from the other persons point of view. Atticus Finch would be sighing deeply reading it."The Dog days are over, The Dog days are gone" Florence and the MachineComment

So many on that site stil want to believe it's a beat up and it's all Tippetts fault, Blucher's fault, Tippett Seniors fault, Sydney's fault, AFLs fault, anybodies fault but their beloved can do no wrong footy clubs fault.
Some even seem to be saying that the guilty pleas by Adelaide are not admissions or proof of guilt but merely an attempt to lessen the penalty from the big bad AFL who have it in for them.
Imagine if some of these types were on jury duty!
Yes, if you want a laugh, go to Bigfooty Adelaide.
Oh, and after the AFL has handed down the draconian penalties to Adelaide, they had better find Melbourne guilty of tanking or the Adelaide fans will send a lynch mob over for Vlad and co.!Comment
