Looks like Tippetts legal team are turning up the heat on the AFL and trying to force AFC to delist him, which the AFL have blocked up to now. They are also questioning the if Demetriou can make the call without a conflict of interest given he has been discussing 'at length' the legal details with AFC. AD may not want the contents of his discussions with Chapman in the public arena, especially the Supreme Court.

I had forgotten how long the off season is and how high a mountain of sheer speculation can grow.

        The computer says no.

        We girlies ignore Joey's girlfriend.

(Saying that though, I did meet her. She's a lovely and very lucky young lady. Joey is a catch and a half.)
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.

          From that article ...

"Sportsbet.com.au has Tippett a $9 favourite to appear on next year's edition of Dancing With The Stars ahead of appearing on a television commercial for a national bank ($21) while he's a $51 chance to be given the keys to the city of Adelaide which were recently taken back from disgraced cyclist Lance Armstrong."

... $51 to be given the keys to the city of Adelaide??? More like 5000-1!

From my perspective ( ie. envious but admiring bloke), Joey is a lucky young man!

Adelaide no longer issues keys to the city because there's nothing worth pinching so they just leave the gates to the city open.

KT must have keys already because I thought those gates were locked from the inside?

Sheedy making lots of noises about picking Tippett. Couldn't care less what Tippett wants, he says. Are they willing to risk $4 mill on a bloke who resents being there?

Sheedy's response is predictable. Remember its draft day. his message is not so much to Tippett but to the broader footy community (including draftee parents/family)and the new kids GWS will draft later this evening. What did he say? GWS...great club....great young players....ready to peak in 4 to 5 years. It could be deemed as a threat to Tippett however I saw it as a typical 'marketing statement' from Sheedy. Thats why the AFL gave him the coaching position...to sell the club and AFL footy in the Western Suburbs of Sydney. GWS have some smart people....too smart to pay someone 4 million over 4 years who doesnt want to play for them. ....and, of course, thats assuming Tippett goes into the pre-season draft.

Tippett's legal team have the AFL nervous and its not beyond the possibility of Adelaide delisting him (with AFL consent) prior to the 28th Nov therefore making him a restricted free agent and being able to nominate the Swans. If it is the pre-season draft then I'm confident he'll fall to the Swans ...if not, another interesting chapter could develop of which I don't think the AFL/GWS would be too comfortable.

Could someone explain to me the mid-draft restricted free agent thingy.

What sort of player is expected to be there. ie. What scenario is it catering for ?

If KT can get delisted, are the swans then guaranteed to get him via this free agent route ?

What price back to back Premierships? What price a FF when there are no other highest calibre equals available? What price to deliver the current Swans playing group maximum support and ultimate success? It is a simple equation: when you want an employee bad enough you will pay almost anything to get him. Why pay less and get someone less?

Damn right! The AFC idiots brought this mess onto themselves. It they had not tried to whip up a public storm over his desired departure in the first place, they would have been miles in front. It would have been so much easier to simply say, "The departure frees us up with our salary cap. We now have the resources to hire new talent, reward younger players blah, blah blah." Instead, they drove out the heretic and whipped up supporter fury against the player. The AFC is real dumb.
