One of my real concerns with how well we are playing is that many of us start to believe that the team is infallible and that all we need to do to win is turn up. John Longmire has a real job on his hands:
1) to convince the players that the reason they are favourited to win is because of the way we are playing and not because we are so good
2) to maintain the desire that they showed last week against opposition we all know we should beat.
Now we as supporters do not have a coach/coaches or a strong leadership team to keep our mind focused and free from complacency so occasionally we start to believe that there are only 2 or 3 teams that are left in the race for the flag. Port Adelaide may not be a favoured team but may I remind you they just beat a team we could only beat by 32 pts by 75 pts.
They will be playing before a rabid crowd full of supporters from both Adelaide teams one to support port the rest to boo Tippett.
And if we compare opposing games we beat Adelaide by 77 and they only beat them by 9, so whilst I see what your saying I don't necessarily agree with it or think your point supports it.
The boys need to have the hunger and keep it and I think they have shown they certainly have it now and I reckon Magics photo of Benny and is more the kind of thing that will help them keep it.
"It's up to the rest of the players in the room to make a new batch of premiership players next year," Adam Goodes, triple Bob Skilton Medallist, October 7, 2011.
Dunno whether I'll be more excited to see Tippett finally show his game on Sat ... or whether the flurry of post-match posts assessing him can get this thread to 4000 posts!!

Chance of Crows & Power supporters agreeing on ANYTHING are less than Melboune getting Colless as CEO, Roos as coach & signing Buddy to head up the forwardline in 2014
& as for your reminder extrapolating from our respective games against GWS ... grab yourself a managed fund PDS & read the disclaimer, the same principles apply ... "PAST PERFORMANCE IS NO GUARANTEE OF FUTURE RESULTS"
If it was we'd still be losing to Collingwood, West Coast / Sydney games would all be decided by less than a kick, and Andrew Bomford would never have worn a Swans gernsey in a seniors game!
Fact is, our win was after a very short pre-season for us and a full one for them. Injuries to their side has left them a bit weaker recently. And ANYTHING can happen on the day. How else can you explain some of the wins by Melb, StK, the Dogs or Bris? ... well the Dees was explained by them also beating GWS to the tune of 41 points ... are you suggesting that based on those performances we should lose to the Dees by about 9 points?
To quote Spock "Highly illogical!"

Wow I write those things as part of my job and thought that no one ever reads them.....
Glad we have Port now and not at the start of the year but we'd really have to trip up badly to drop this one. The boys will be pumped to have KT in and will pull out a pretty big effort I reckon.

Check out this link and I look forward to seeing what Melbourne can make of themselves after your gift.
Haha! I will stand corrected on the day IF I see much evidence Crows/anti-Tippett support there.
But the article sounded like the reporter asked if the player thought there'd be more Crows supporters than usual & the player hoping (somewhat optimistically) that there would coz he's sick of playing in front of empty seats (or seats full of red & white, there is often a pretty good turn out of Swans fans).
Crows fans often shun Port hosted Showdown matches. To pay to watch an ex-player seems a little unlikely. We shall see
I have the feeling that we may not see a performance worthy of the messiah this weekend as having a power forward has not been a part of our game plan so far. I am intrigued to see how we will change what we do. Do the mids stream through the midfield and then look for Tippett instead of pumping the goals? Will Tippett be a stay-at-home ff, thereby forcing the opposition to keep a defender back, subsequently diluting our slingshot? I think it will mess with our game plan for a month or so until we can work it out, so I wont be surprised if there are some close calls and frustrating passages in the next few games.
Like everyone else I'm looking forward to this. I think the Port defence will have to cope with two very big leading forwards as well as the usual pesky mids popping in to snatch goals, plus Mitch who could turn up anywhere. My bet is they are well drilled and we'll see another of those relatively smooth transitions we seem to make over the last two years or so.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

My thoughts also.
It would be different if he hadn't been training with the team, but Longmire and co would have been strategizing for this day for the last eight months and training for it for the last couple, so whilst I have no idea how he will go after being out so long, I have no doubt the rest of the team is very prepared.
I'm a bit torn regarding his debut, the glass half full angel on my left shoulder is assuring me that he'll kick 4 goals, and have sereal assists as well. Unfortunately the glass half empty angel on the other shoulder is predicting that in an effort to prove himself to his new team-mates he will charge headfirst into the first pack situation he comes accross and be knocked out cold.
I realy HATE the glass half empty angel!
