I think Adelaide would prefer having a higher pick and foregoing Jesse. But I imagine that has been already tried and failed. For example, Jesse + pick 23 to North for their pick 16 which would go to Adelaide. I can't see anyone else who would upgrade our pick for a fringe player. Adelaide only has 2 live picks which should be 20 and our pick 23. So there really isn't much room for improvement from here on in. As some have suggested, the deal may well be done and Adelaide are just waiting for the last moment to file the papers (agreed to by Sydney), to show they fought it out to the very end and what they got was the very best they could do.

        Tippett?

The only thing that would be better than gong back to back with Tippett in our team would be going back to back without him in our team.

The comments on the Addy article are showing signs of turning to pick 23 only.

However there are still a number of delusional people thinking that Carlton are going to ride in at pick 11 (I think that is it) and snap him up in the ND at a $800,000 a year.

There is no freaking chance of that happening and the only other suitor would be GWS with their last first round pick and it's just not the right player, price or time for them to take Tippett.

If a club with a slightly higher pick than 23 were seriously interested in White (or in Everitt, TDL or any other fringe player the Swans might deem to be expendable), you'd think they'd have already come forward and stuck their nose in to see if they can get involved, particularly if they have their eye on a player at their pick that they think could still be around at pick 23. Unlikely any one is going to suddenly appear out of nowhere this late in the piece.

Collingwood have three of those picks, and having picked up Lynch already, are unlikely to have a need for Jesse. Plus I suspect their salary cap is maxed out and they can't afford to take anyone other than new draftees on the minimum wage. Adelaide have another of those picks themselves.

Reading between the lines, we've put it back on Adelaide to find a better deal if they can, but have a deal agreed which goes through if nothing else eventuates.

If so, that's a sensible approach I guess - no need for us to run around in circles at this point.

I can't believe how insecure the Crows are though. They've probably made things worse by letting this drag on so long - building up their supporters' expectations only to presumably have to settle for what was tabled a week ago.

With the possible exception of GWS I cannot see anhyone coming in to derail this trade even in the draft.

I suspect that it is all done and dusted and that a deal has been signed off to be released at the 11th hour.

Will be good for Draft Week to be merely a week, sure I'm not the only person well and truly over this period

So many posts and so little action, perhaps the lowlight were the surreal comments that suggested that the Tippett's deal would force Adelaide to dump Richard Tambling.
In a moment of whimsy I imagine us taking Tippett and Tambling (just to help out) and turning poor Richard into a multiple Norm Smith winner.
As I said it's been a long trade period

                      The daily Noble update:

The Adelaide Advertiser says while the Crows have not ruled out Swans forward Jesse White being a part of the deal, they were hoping Friday's 2pm deadline would force a better offer from the Swans.

"And in the last moments you find things that were not possible early in the trade talks do unfold," Noble said.

"A coach will suddenly agree to release a first-round draft pick."

Now he is not even making any sense. Should read - "a coach will release a player suddenly for a first round draft pick".

I'm guessing there might be a vacancy for a list manager at the Crows very shortly.
Nothing like a good light bulb moment.

I wondered about that too, although I decided that perhaps he was talking hypothetically, or that perhaps the Swans were offering White and their 2nd round choice. I hadn't considered Noble was going nuts . . . . . although after more than 3 weeks on this one trade it wouldn't surprise me!

It is mystifying to me how we keep being underestimated, even after we win a flag. But I love it, because I'm sure it works in our favour.

Originally it was quoted that the so called agreement that Tippett had with Adelaide is that he would be allowed to go for the club of his choice for a second round draft pick. Maybe the swans have stuck to that knowing that there is a background trade practices or breach of contract threat sitting out there that if Adelaide renege on that agreement , Tippett may have the ability to challenge it. It would then make sense that Noble says they are holding out for the first round pick.

It would also make sense that they hold off announcing as they develop the spin lines because the AFC fans will rip them a new one for getting just a 2nd round pick and Jesse if they choose to take him.
