I've used it for 40 years. As teenagers we were 'jagging' putts from outside 30 feet in the 70's. Very common term in my circles...

I jagged a putt from 25 foot on the 18th yesterday for a 5 pointer. Fantastic having 2 shots on a hole these days

No way did we Jag this premiership. Its because people under rated our list and have no idea of the talent we have in our team that a common misconception that we were lucky to win prevails.

Any team that has the luxury of Luke Parker as a sub is a damn talented side!!

Jimmy's view on the Tippett situation:

Goodes, ROK, Bolts are all coming to the pointy end of their careers. As Horse said, we are not paying Tippett any more money then adelaide in his first year of his contract. The years after that however we are paying over 900k for him, which i think is overs but I trust the powers that be at the club to make the astute and long term decision. Jimmy agrees with Horse that we don't get top 10 draft picks hence why we must go hard at tippett as he will be our key forward/backup ruckman for the next 5-7 years. Goodes won't be their forever and we will need a forward to step into his shoes. I believe he is overrated, but he will provide a target up forward for the next 5-7 years, as well as a backup ruckman to the big Mummy.
LRT. Lord Roberts-Thompson. He may look like the Munster, but looks can be deceiving.

That doesn't make sense. We won a flag this year, and many players "played their role". That doesn't mean they are all justified in receiving the sort of money he will get.

He's worth what someone is prepared to pay him, like everyone else under free agency.

Gee I hope we can go back to back, then the envious ones can comment on how we managed to " ... jag back to back flags ..."

What makes no sense is why a players salary is so important to some especially when none of us know what any of the players are on. Nico is spot on, winning premierships is what it should be all about.

The only question that should be asked by supporters is does Tippett make us a stronger team and in my view and the clubs view, he does.

One thing that I also believe is that a players salary doesn't matter in the Swans culture. All players need to buy into it and play their role for the team and that applies from the highest paid right down to the humble rookie listed player.

Never understood this logic of this to be honest. If one of those points turns into a goal then the ball starts back in the centre square instead of a kick in and the complexion of the game changes. There's no guarantee they get the same number of scoring shots.

I take "jagged" as being lucky and in my view ALL premierships are based on some luck. However the skilled teams that work hard seemed to get lucky an awful lot. This premiership was based on skill, hard work and like all premiership teams a little bit of luck.

To quote the great Peter Sterling "luck is something that you put yourself in the position to take advantage of." We did that better than anyone else this year.

Yep, exactly the point I was making. The great teams seem to get lucky an awful lot. At the end of the day the 2 best teams made the Grand Final and the winner was always going going to be worthy Premiers.

All these people getting offended by my jagged comment need to revisit exactly how confident they were at the end of the H&A games. Werent many claiming the cup back then

But barry, every fairly close game of football ever played has its share of 'What ifs'. A degree of luck is always going to figure in the wash-up, as per Peter Sterling quoted above. Our blokes apparently worked very hard on their woeful kicking, with the result that we ended up the best in the league in this pretty fundamental skill. As for confidence, I felt for most of the season that if we played to our potential, we could beat anyone - 'could', not 'would'; that's as confident as anybody can legitimately be.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

We are worthy winners. Make no doubt about that. We made the most of every situation.
Adelaide game. If Adelaide kicked straight, and the crowd got involved it could have gone either way.
Collingwood game. The loss of J Mac had an impact on the ability of the opposition to be mentally up.
Hawthorn game. Poor kicking, especially in the last when they could have got 4 goals up, would have made it very difficult to win. Game could have easily gone either way, and the winner would have been worthy.
