Same goes for West Coast, GWS, Gold Coast. Freo not so much, probably because it did once exist as a separate entity before East and South were created, and they made some sort of effort to include in their colours some reference to its history. Also I think clubs that are named after an area rather than a specific place tend to lack a certain character. "West Coast" has always sounded like California to me. GWS is just laughable, especially as it is supposed to encompass Canberra.

Fair point on Bradshaw. Wasn't it posted very early on in the thread that we had an allocation of $400,000 for Bradshaw in the 2012 cap that would drop off, which would mean they could pay Tippett more in year one and drop his average payments in the next 3 years. We also had a cleanout that would have made more space, then drafted players who would be on a lower base.

I would think that there will have to be a salary cap increase to reduce the amount of outside contract deals that are going around. If you wonder how we will handle our salary cap, then how do Hawthorn manage with all their star players and no COLA? What about Carton with what they are paying Judd? And Collingwood with Cloke, Swan, Pendlebury, Beams, Shaw, Ball and on and on? If we have problems with our cap, so do all these teams. We are just getting called out because we're the Premiers.

The official PSD order is now out with Swans having pick 11. afl.com.au seem to think only 6 of those will be used with other clubs picks held over for the rookie draft. Interestingly the Swans have 3 picks in the PSD. I suspect they will only use 1 and use the rest in the rookie draft.

I seem to recall it was only a few months back we were considered over achievers with an easy draw that didnt really deserve to be at the top of the ladder . A team that had a great culture but really didnt lack star power and that would find it difficult when they cam up against the STAR FILLED teams of Hawthorne and Collingwood. Lests assume that played out as the experts predicted. We would still have the same team on the same salaries and suddenly we are in the market for a highly paid player with the potential to help us take that next step.

Lo and behold three months later that team has significantly overachieved and suddenly its unbelievable they can afford someone.

                Given the Pre-seasons draft order

Long wait for Swans on Tippett - AFL.com.au

Hope that the Swans use selection 17. Just to make a statement!

Auntie Gerald, for what it's worth I agree that KT should, all things being considered, be a plus for our team going into the future - assuming we get him.

However, having an Adam Goodes badge in pride of place on on my Swannies scarf, how could I not object to you comparing him and his recent form with that of KT, suggesting that looking back over the past few years they were roughly on a par. I believe that it is only this year that the Swans have moved on from depending on Adam to rescue them when they were behind the eight ball, however, it was no surprise that in the GF he was again an important player in the team's win.

I agree AG's best days are behind him and that KT will be important for the future but I firmly belong to the Adam Goodes Appreciation Society, to me he is a true Swan's star, humble, unassuming, gives it his all, doesn't always get the recognition that some other 'stars' get and is not perfect! Oops, sorry, this is a KT thread.

                      I agree.

But not just to make a statement.

If the Swans want to pick up more than one player in the PSD, as no-one else can afford KT, then they would be stupid to waste their first PSD pick on him. They should use their last pick for KT, and use the earlier pick to get the next best player available.

Do you think they will give KT a job to keep him busy? He could sweep the stands and pick up our chip buckets after games.

How many times do Swan's players have to endorse Tippett's recruitment before the naysayers will shut up about having our culture damaged? The Age tonight:

Bolton in fine fettle for fifteenth season

I didn't read that as an endorsement, although I'm sure the players are more than happy to have someone of KT's calibre join them..... They obviously can't say much more until he actually gets drafted by us.

you don't see "cautiously excited" as an endorsement?

Would Bolton have to say I want KTs love child or what?
