Tippett!!

If you refer to economics as a model, Swans are paying him on his perceived future value. They believe that he will be able to fulfil a required need, and are willing to pay him substantially for it. That may be due to lack of alternatives in the current environment (supply and demand).
I think it'd be unfair and unrealistic to equate salary with Brownlow votes. Brownlow is skewed towards midfielders anyway, and unless you're Sydney Swans, midfielders don't kick that many goals.
I don't really have any qualms with acquiring Tippett, and hope that he will earn his keep over the forthcoming seasons. If not, we can bay for his blood later."Play like you can’t lose."Comment

My first post so be kind.
Seems to me that Tippetts PR machine far exceeds what he has achieved on the ground over the past three years in Adelaide. It may have already been stated in this thread but it not then how many Brownlow votes did Tippett get in 2012, 2011 and 2009?
If my web search was correct it was 1 in 2012, 3 in 2011 and 4 in 2010. Not exactly million dollar a year stuff.
Here is a really useful link. I use it a lot. AFL Tables
As for Tippett and the Brownlow, you can find it here. AFL Tables - Kurt Tippett - Statistics

2009 7

I would say the club would wait until they know if they have been able to get Kurt Tippet before going after the other one...just my take on things. I would assume they wouldn't want to inflame an already difficult situation by mouthing off about being interested in the other Tippett."The Dog days are over, The Dog days are gone" Florence and the MachineComment

Tippett?
The rookie draft is after the pre-season draft.

Will be interesting to see what happens to all the baby brothers - Tippett, Richards and Jack!Comment

Well, finally it seems he'll be a Swan.
The obvious positive.... we'll now have a bona fide full forward, not a superstar by any means, but a good player who will hopefully get better.
The negatives..... Costing way too much, which down the track will no doubt cause us to loose 1 or 2 very good players...that's going to hurt...
Particually if his form is no better than what it was at Adelaide.
For the price tag, and inevitable loss of player/s, he needs to be a dominant force which helps us challenge for at least 2 more flags....by challenge I mean play in GFs.
If he stagnates, it's a very poor outcome for the Swans....
IMO, given we just won a flag without him, this is a big, unnecessary, gamble by the Swans.....fingers crossed it works out.
Having said all that...I thought picking Horse as coach was a dud decision....wrong again EK!Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect... MTComment
