Well, you've got me with your electric paced quick wit Lugwig. I ran it by a neighbour's accountant, whose elderly beagle attends the same dog park as Tippet's aunt. The accountant said that it all sounded pretty reasonable as it was similar advice that an amazing bi-spectacled, follicularly challenged, financial guru on a morning show once offered up ... he said such a strategy would make Tommy a Bondi Billionaire in no time. After all, they front end contracts in the NFL all the time & we should all recognise that anything American must be the gold standard of .... oh I just can't keep this rubbish up .... inside extractor unit!Comment

I was just thinking about Tom's situation. If he wanted to be a long term Swans, & if he knew roughly what he wanted to earn over the combined duration of a long term contract(s), and if he is savvy with investing (and/or has a good/effective financial advisor) it might actually be to his financial advantage to have a front ended contract. Higher earning for him earlier in his career allows for better investment opportunities and compounded returns over a longer duration (ie if the cash is in his account now rather than in the Swans coffers until later when he peaks). Apart from current stagnation in eastern seaboard property markets, if property markets followed the historical upward trends, a front ended contract would allow for more cost effective property investment in the Sydney market too. If he knows what he wants to earn & the Swans are happy to pay it, the risk for him of a front ended contract is that he improves beyond his value. The risk to the Swans is an injury or Tom not fulfilling his potential.
Hmmm its late, so I'm not sure if that reasoning is logicalComment

Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

Can we now agree that Kurt is earning his wages and justifying the belief that the Swans had in his ability when they signed him? Last season and so far this season he has been one of our most influential performers.
Someone mentioned on another thread that he doesn't get any recognition when he does well and is marked hard when something doesn't click. Well he hasn't had many mentions recently so he must be doing something right.
I feel that his best will come over the next two to three years and look forward to his partnership with Callum Sinclair over that time.Comment
