I am puzzled by the suggestions that Sam Reid might be traded. I realise that a lot can happen in 15 months, the Franklin deal has changed the landscape, and that Sam had a miserable season this year as a result of injury. But it was only last year that the Club signed Sam to a 5 year contract. In several interviews at the time Sam sounded really happy with the deal, playing with the Swans and life in Sydney.
For example he did a nice interview with 'The Beast' which included the following:
"You just signed a five year deal with the Swans at the end of last season; you must be pretty happy about that?
Yeah, it?s good that the coaching staff have shown faith in me and signed me for that long a deal. It makes me really secure up here and that?s why I was able to buy a place and be really happy up here. Obviously I wouldn?t have signed if I was unhappy. I love it up here and I love the guys and it?s a really good environment around the club."

Lazy journalist filling in pre-trade period newspaper space with a speculative unfounded story.
Who else would they pick on in the Swans list ?????- A story on Mike Pyke wanting to return home to breed moose would not have the same affect.

Interesting names that have come up either retired or delisted.
Peter Faulks delisted from Freo. As was Liam Patrick from GC. Brennan has retired from GC too.

If Sam is to be moved on, it wouldn't surprise to find out it all started to go sour when he only lasted 10 minutes in his comeback.
The lunatic fringe here were barking loudly (woof, woof) when it happened, blaming the physio, the Doc, Longmire and the match committee for bringing him back too soon. I refuse to believe the last word would not have sat with Sam himself about how the injury was going. In a season where our injuries were just awful, a serious season ending injury which may have been avoided with a more cautious approach or possibly a bit more honesty in assessment proved especially costly.
All supposition for sure, but if he is getting hawked around, to go from golden haired boy with a long term contract to that stage would surely be the result of some serious fallout.Driver of the Dan Hannebery bandwagon....all aboard. 4th April 09Comment

Yet another rumour just spouted on melbourne radio is that the swans are trying to find a new home for Ben Mcglynn, if the rumourist is to be believed Mcglynn has in the last 48 hrs asked the swans to look at a trade. If this is true this is understandable as i believe with everyone fit Benny will struggle to get a game next year at the swans, and with the signing of Lamb i think his chances have decreased even more. Does anyone think other clubs would have an interest? I would of thought GWS and GCS both could use a hard at the contest player, unfortunately his skills and decision making have seen him surpassed at our club but think he could be value elsewhere.
EDIT- Sorry this was meant to get posted in trade rumours thread if it can be moved please do so, think MightyBloods OT post confused me and i thought it was the trade rumours thread.Comment

Not surprised that Fremantle are interested in San Reid! Sam Reid has possibly played his best games in the AFL against Fremantle! He has also beaten Luke Mcpharlin (the best defender in the AFL) a couple of times! I think that he will stay and hopefully reunite with his Brother Ben during next years free agency period (Ben to move to Sydney)
Ben McGlynn has had a fine Swans career, but I think it's time for him to move to his next opportunity while he still has currency. I hate for him not to get a game next year and be in the potential de-list bucket due to his age! He would get a two year deal with another club!Comment

Don't believe the Sam Reid rumours for a minute. I am surebthisnis journos confusingmReidbfor white. Pretty quiet kid from country Victoria, tough year but I have always heard he is happy in Sydney.
Mcglynn could be interesting. He may struggle to hold his spot next year, however he must hunger for a premiership. You don't ban those who supported your opponent, you make them wallow in their loserdom by covering your victory! You sit them in the front row. You give them a hat! Toby ZieglerComment

Good suggestion. Shaw would be used to playing in front of 30 yr old Grandmothers so GWS will be a good fit.

Interesting that as of this morning papers are listing Ricky Henderson to Collingwod for round 2 pick....no mention of White. Maybe he really did fail a physical as he is a much better player than Henderson...bigger, better kick, quicker and can ruck."I'll acknowledge there are more talented teams in the competition but I won't acknowledge that there is a better team in the competition" Paul Roos March 2005Comment

Sam Reid is not up for trade. He is contracted and will fulfil his contract obligations as will the club to him. I wish people would stop inflicting stupid rumours on us all. Recently the only player out of contract was Jed Lamb and I believe recently this has been rectified. Mummy & Jesse are gone mores the pity but the rest are all contracted. I wish some other people would get their facts straight as just recently there was a post saying there were about 7 swans uncontracted for next year when in fact there were only three.
BUT contracted players can still be up for trade IF
the Swans want to trade him
AND the player is happy to be traded
AND the other club wants him
AND the other club are willing to pay out the rest of his contract AND can fit that contract under their cap.
Unless our contracted player can satisfy ALL of the above criteria, I find it annoyingly mischievous to be suggesting them (again, not just the media).Comment

According the AFL website "Fellow Swan Andrejs Everitt also looks set to explore his trade options as he remains uncontracted." This thread is about rumours and whispers. It's just a bit of fun!Comment
