tippett in derickx out. cant make many changes after a win against a quality side. have to drop a big man with a another big man coming in, otherwise we're too tall. this will give b jack and lloyd (or are with going with J-Lo, haha) another go to build some form
Round 6 : Changes vs Melb

Compared with the number of times people have called for him to be dropped. He's not the greatest tap ruckman or set shot, but he's a really good defender, a strong mark, makes his tackles stick and is a very, very hard matchup. One of my favourites for his all-round handiness and unassumingness.
Anyway, Longmire suggesting that we might play Tippett and Reid AND Goodes this week. Even if all fit, can our forward line digest three new talls? Surely he's just messing with Roosy's well-coiffured head.
AFL: Sam Reid also chance to return for Swans

This will be interesting, I'll have a stab at it...If they all have a good week of training/ pulling up, then....
IN : Tippett, Reid, Goodes(as sub)
OUT : Derrickx, Laidler, Lloyd(unlucky, but it is for Goodsey)
Not sure any of my 3 'outs' deserve to be dropped, but the caliber of the 'ins' demand it.Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect... MTComment

Wouldn't it be funny if he became the only swan EVER to win 3 premierships if he wins one without Goodes in the team?Comment

When was the last time we had to fit Tippett, Goodes and Reid into a side already containing Buddy? We are yet to still have this luxury but if and when all four are available, something has to give amongst the other talls. Ted and Pykey are close to assured their spots, but one or more of Derrickx, LRT, Grundy or Laidler is going to need to make way, you'd reckon.Comment

I think that Goodes will play at least two monitored games in the reserves. He needs to develop some match fitness and touch and that will be difficult in the Green Vest. Bring him in to the Green Vest role for Geelong and the Hawks.
If Sam Reid is fit, then play him in the forward line with Tippett and Franklin. Those three guys will need to work over the next two games on their positioning and making sure they can separate their defenders leaving one on one contests for each.
LRT will have to play if Tippett does not provide any ruck assistance. Due to LRT's defensive skills you can play him as a 4th attacking tall (in 2012 the forward line contained talls Pyke, Goodes, Reid and LRT) or you play him at a 3rd tall in the backline. This will lead to the omission of Laidler even though he has been good.
Ins - Reid, Tippett
Outs - Tom D and LaidlerComment

Our percentage isn't great atm and will be very important later in the year, so none of this blooding players or rewarding players right now, we've had too bad a start to the season for that and need to play our strongest 22 and go for blood!Comment

Exactly! We not only have to win these seemingly easier games, we need to win BIG!!!!

We do the same with Brisbane but swap the subs vest.
Give Lloyd, Bird and Parker greater midfield time and get Jack and Kennedy fresh for the bruising prospect of Geelong and the Hawks!Comment
