Most of us think that if Mitchell wins selection, then it will be Lloyd that gets dropped, thus the comparison and relevancy to this thread. But agree that there is no need to disparage either as both look to have bright futures.
What I find interesting about the Lloyd situation is that he could be a barometer for how NEAFL performance might translate to AFL performance. The strong performances by Lloyd might be indicative of what Dan Robinson is capable of, since they both started last year and Dan is only a bit behind Jake. Both made the NEAFL all-star team, and their stats are comparable. Biggs is in the mix as well. Perris, Jones and Hewitt are off to good starts. But the likes of Marsh and Lockyer, although okay at NEAFL level, are not putting in the consistent performances of Lloyd, Robinson and Biggs.
It's important to get a few new faces into the seniors every year if thea team is to develop, which can be difficult when the injury list is so short.
