Most of us think that if Mitchell wins selection, then it will be Lloyd that gets dropped, thus the comparison and relevancy to this thread. But agree that there is no need to disparage either as both look to have bright futures.

What I find interesting about the Lloyd situation is that he could be a barometer for how NEAFL performance might translate to AFL performance. The strong performances by Lloyd might be indicative of what Dan Robinson is capable of, since they both started last year and Dan is only a bit behind Jake. Both made the NEAFL all-star team, and their stats are comparable. Biggs is in the mix as well. Perris, Jones and Hewitt are off to good starts. But the likes of Marsh and Lockyer, although okay at NEAFL level, are not putting in the consistent performances of Lloyd, Robinson and Biggs.

It's important to get a few new faces into the seniors every year if thea team is to develop, which can be difficult when the injury list is so short.

Why do you think rookies over the last two years such as Rampe, Brandon Jack, X Richards, Shane Biggs, Jake Lloyd and Daniel Robinson have outperformed drafted players like Jordan Lockyer, Harry Marsh, Matthew Dick and Dene Towers?

Do you think the 2013 draft batch of Jones, Toby N, Aliir and George Hewitt are superior to the 2012 batch?

The rookies from the 2012 draft had better first years than the national draftees, and Biggs continued well as a 2nd year rookie. The 4 national draftees had mixed performances last year, but Membrey and Dick seem to have picked up the pace this year. As a group, I'm very optimistic about the 2013 draftees.

The picture gallery, from today's training session, shows Sam Reid with a rather obvious bandage on his leg. Should we be worried?

I've been impressed with Murdoch this year. Rampe the best match up?

I do not remember saying his disposals were poor, I did say of all of the skills he brings to the table this was still developing. An assessment I stand by after watching him in close under pressure.

Just had a look, Cunningham's our best at 86.1% which is elite for any position, but totally out of this world for someone who plays a lot in the forward line. If you have a look at the rest of the players around his disposal efficiency mark, they are almost all defenders who get the luxury of chipping the ball around in the back line to pad their effective disposals stat.

Don't know if it has been mentioned elsewhere, but the Thursday night game is because of the promise "every game broadcast live". I doubt anyone likes the idea of Thursday night Sydney traffic and Friday morning wake-up, but seriously, how could anyone choose not to go to this game ? Its going to be a cracker !

I'm trying to avoid talking with anyone prior to Thursday to save my voice. Lots of lemon juice and single malt as my pregame routine. Going to make some O'Reilly Stand noise.

We've lost 12 of the last 14 against the Cats and the last three in a row. Which means we are overdue.

I wonder if Longmire will put a run-with player on Stevie J as Freo did. He got 9 possessions and a suspension.
