We've lost 12 of the last 14 against the Cats and the last three in a row. Which means we are overdue.

I wonder if Longmire will put a run-with player on Stevie J as Freo did. He got 9 possessions and a suspension.

I don't think we have anyone like the Smiling Assassin Crowley, but Smooch generally does OK on Stevie. Perhaps we should think about Shaw, or even give Cunningham a taste?

I would continue with Cunninghams education and send him to stevie j. Cunningham seems to be following the same path as KJ. I am happy with that.

I think Steve J might be a bit too clever for Harry. A matchup that I do see as one that might work to our benefit is Harry on Stokes; a better size matchup as well.

Geelong play a lot like us; they rotate lots of players through the midfield and forward line and make it difficult to play one on one. They don't worry too much about the matchups in the middle because they're so solid in defence and pickup the counterattack so well. They force you to match them in workrate and hardness, something we just have to do if we want to win. We really need to be switched on all game.

I would consider playing Rampe on Johnson and maybe Smooch on Motlop.

It could be a real challenge for Laidler who might get the assignment of picking up midfielders like Bartel and Selwood when they go forward.

Re Stevie J, I remember him having a day out in last year's game. Anyone remember who was on him that game? IMO it definitely takes some niggle to get under his skin to put him off his game. Without this I worry he will be primed for a big one as payback to his team for the suspension. Left field idea: our best niggler is McGlynn. Interested in opinions about whether he could do this tag job?

Also doubt over Lonergan for Cats which will make a big difference for us. He is their automatic choice to match up on Buddy. Media has suggested a bunch of alternatives possible ... Blicavs, Mackie or Rivers. If Blicavs, do they still go with the 2 main ruckmen of Simpson and McIntosh. However they decide to go, if Lonergan is out I feel like we are one mobile tall forward than they have good match ups for.

Don't know if it has been mentioned elsewhere, but the Thursday night game is because of the promise "every game broadcast live". I doubt anyone likes the idea of Thursday night Sydney traffic and Friday morning wake-up, but seriously, how could anyone choose not to go to this game ? Its going to be a cracker !

I'm actually really looking forward to the Thursday game! In saying that though, I don't have any kids to worry about and don't have to be at work until 10am the next day.

I can't wait until I can take my little boy to the football. He is four and I don't think I can take him to the SCG without him needing to run around. Does anyone regularly take their young children to the football? What is your experience? How do you get them to sit still for a full three hours?

Just had a look, Cunningham's our best at 86.1% which is elite for any position, but totally out of this world for someone who plays a lot in the forward line. If you have a look at the rest of the players around his disposal efficiency mark, they are almost all defenders who get the luxury of chipping the ball around in the back line to pad their effective disposals stat.

SEN had a segment with Nick Maxwell and he brought in Champion Data stats on the best kickers in the league assessing the difficulty of kicks, the pressure they were put under when executing them ect. Cunningham was the second best in the league (after Jobe Wastson no less haha)!! Our top 3 was Cunningham, Lloyd and McVeigh. Certainly it highlights just what some of our youngsters have brought to the side.

Tricky. Its best to wait until they actually appreciate it. 6 or 7.

The risk you run however, is that by then some other family will invite him to the footy, and you wont have the joy of introducing him to it. I had a mate who wanted to hold out until his son was 10. It was a very difficult experience.

4 year olds will run around, and you wont see much footy at all.

There used to be a room on the second level of the brewongle that you could take your kids to so you could watch from behind the glass and they could run around a little without disturbing everyone around you. Dont know if they still have it but it came in very handy when my boys were very young. Short of that - junk food and electronic games of some kind .

Yeah it's a tough one. Probably deserves to be in but would mean dropping cunningham or Lloyd who are both going ok and we would lose some outside run. I think we need the run against Geelong.
