I really don't know how to value Bird on the trading block. Nor Hampton for that matter. Why hasn't he managed to break into the GWS backline even when Buntine went down injured?

PS: Always meant to say how I love your Will Rogers quote.
A Bird/Hampton straight swap would probably be fair for both parties

I would have thought a club like Melbourne who need that additional depth, especially if bundled up with Robbo, would also be a possible destination.

Hampton would be a good pickup if we can make the trade happen and you'd think he'd be affordable. A Jetta/Talia swap plus Mills and Dunks should just about do us though with no noticeable trade bait it would push our 2016 first round pick back to a second rounder. Assuming there is no first round gun academy player in the wings, and there's no mail of a new Heeney or Mills, then that would probably be acceptable.

      IN :

      1. Mills - certainty i think
      2. Dunkley - if good enough we will pick him up but we really don't know versus other options
      3. Hampton - only if we don't think Harry Marsh can kick on as the same role i.e. mid sized HBF
      4. Talia - only a remote possibility methinks.......... I think some of us are underestimating that Xavier is already just as advanced and same age as Talia .......and don't forget Davis either as a one out of the box.......I still think Xavier will take over from Ted and Davis will take over from Grundy bit by bit in their own time. Melican will be a bogie outsider in a couple of years as he fills out.....Melican he is a hard at it 194cm defender.......AA also
      5. A Cordy - a cheaper project ruck man picked up in the later drafts ?

      OUT:

      1. Jetta - you never know he may stay ?
      2. Shaw - retired
      3. Bird - trade
      4. Robinson - probably no trade i would think just delisted
      5. Marsh - if Hampton comes in I think he will be delisted
      6. Perris - I just don't see him as a 100 game plus AFL player......deslisted
      7. Jake Lloyd - may have interest from a team like Melbourne and may request to move on ?

Good to see you've got Goodsey suiting up for one last season
Cordy? How many ruckman sized players (who play as a forward/ruck) do we need on the list? Nice to have a connection to the other Cordy we didn't snag back in the day though

Ayce Cordy is an absolute spud, he won't get picked up by anybody.

I don't want our focus to be on fringe players when we can get an absolute gun in Bennell. My fear is he goes to Hawthorn!

Hampton would make a perfect swap for Shaw, I'm a fan

That's my fear as well. Imagine them with Rioli, Bennell, Hill and Smith.

You may be right, in which case Zac Smith may be a good trade for Bird.

Well picked up Ludwig, Will Rogers came up with many a fine quote.

All moot points if the trade ban isn't lifted or at least modified.
Tom Harley said nothing is settled yet, but talks with the AFL are continuing.

Newspaper articles say Bennell wants to return to WA and Freo us the front runner.

That would make sense, can't see the Suns getting much more than Freo's late first round pick.

Hampton has nominated adelaide as his preferred club.

I wonder how many players are not nominating or thinking of the Swans because of the trade ban?

Yes it is time the AFL got rid of it now!!! All this silence from them is deafening.

I still get narky when I see players who are not free agents nominating their "club of choice". If you want a trade, you want a trade, but you shouldn't get to pick and choose.
