Having said that, I agree he is a loss for us.
He has his role and does it well.
I do think though that he never really got to where we had hoped he might get to.
My thoughts are that he has reached the top of his game, and it's up to his new club to maintain that.
I don't think they will be able to enable him to be a 'better' player.
The risk is that he won't be able to perform as well as he currently is in a new environment.
Even at the minimum there is adapting to new game plans, learning the nuances for new players etcThe difference between insanity and genius is measured only in success.Comment

I doubt Freo would have much interest. They have Stephen Hill already performing a similar role to Jetta (and while Jets' best is as good as Hill's IMO, Hill produces close to his best far more often and his worst is probably better than Jetta's). They also have Daniel Pearce, albeit that may only have a year or two left in him. More to the point, Freo have a need for height, with Pavlich and McPharlin fast approaching retirement and Michael Johnson getting on a bit. I suspect they are going to focus their trade efforts over the next year or two on getting some quality, experienced tall timber into their squad, to complement the less proven players they already have.
West Coast, on the other hand, don't really have anyone like Jetta and he'd enhance their team. They are also relatively well stocked for what we need, especially when the likes of Mackenzie and Brown recover from their injuries next year. If we could secure someone like Barrass, who's had a taste and done reasonably well but will know he'll be back in the queue once West Coast's injured defenders return, that would be a decent outcome (even though I'd rather Jetta stays).
Getting Tom Barrass as part of a deal would suit us, but he is a West Coaster and would have to be thoroughly checked for mamma's boy syndrome.Comment

Not sure if I've got this completely correct but didn't Jetta put himself up for the draft three years before we picked him.
2012 was his best year, and this year he was pretty decent (except for the last few games when he'd already mentally left the building)
as well. I think it's understandable when players at his level try to make the most of their prospects, though in the west is he ever going to
be more than middling player as he is for us. Probably not. That said I still wish he wasn't going because even though he doesn't rack up a lot of possessions
or kick a lot of goals he is a creative player, spotting loose guys up the field and then being able to hit them with 45M-50M passes. These kicks
can turn into goals that we otherwise wouldn't get.Comment

Anyone heard anything about Mike Pyke? My wife says she's heard rumours about a possible move to Adelaide & the only recent thing I can find is:
With the likely departure of Patrick Dangerfield freeing up salary cap space, Adelaide could be tempted to help Sam Jacobs by boosting their ruck stocks- with Sydney ruckman Mike Pyke a potential candidate.
?He signed a two year contract extension at the end of last year, so he?s one year into that, he?d have another year to go in 2016,? said Anderson.
?That?s maybe one to keep an eye out on in the next few weeks depending with what happens with Matty Leuenberger possibly landing at Sydney.
?I wouldn?t say he?s on the market. I?d just say he?s been a name floating around.?
Pykey and I think Birdy (maybe others) are contracted till 2016? and this bit from the VFL statement about the trade restrictions always had me wondering...
If the club chooses to replace a departing player with this option, the Sydney Swans' transitional COLA amount of $600,000 for the 2016 season will be lowered by 9.8 per cent of the traded out player's contract, if that player was contracted for 2016.
She's also heard something about an Aboriginal player from Adelaide in the works (don't know where she's getting this stuff!)Comment

Jetts for Yeo, or Jetts for Tom Lamb plus a round 2 selection (Not likely to get Josh Kennedy, Matt Priddis or Luke Shoey I would suggest)
Any other preferences?
What happens if a trade cannot be made... WAFL? Not sure either Freo or West Coast need him..
Feel that Jetts under sold himself at the end of this year, seems he had already been traded in his head, and played like he didn't want to play for us anymore.. Glimpses of what he could have been and never fully raised himself to 110%.Comment

Cameron Ellis-Yolman has reportedly asked for a trade from the Crows. He started the season like a house on fire but couldn't keep the form up, and landed up out of the team. Reportedly he was unhappy with this and has asked for a move for "greater opportunities". Unless he is behind a long queue of similar players (ala JPK at the Hawks), you have to question the sticking power of a young emerging player who wants out the first time he loses his spot. From what I know of him, he's a tallish outside mid / utility. But probably more Andrejs Everitt than Adam Goodes.Comment

He was a favourite of Walsh but not of Campo.Comment

I don't think the Swans will be unreasonable re this - you got the impression last time he re-signed that it was Goodesy that got him over the line and possibly they gave him an undertaking that if he felt like a move at the end of the contract that they would not stand in his way (in a totally legal kind of way not Tippo style)
We don't have a reputation for being unreasonable traders so I think a first round pick will be accepted.Comment

Yes I did and I tweeted back that I thought it was a wonderful idea, let's trade in our coach for a coach that can't get their team in the top 4 like Buckley or Hardwick. I have never read so much negativity about a team that finished fourth and if Hawks lose tomorrow night ( and I am praying so hard for this) effectively they only won one more game than swans.
Teams can still trade for head coaches | ProFootballTalk
I would say that Clarko would be worth two top 10s in a trade scenario.Comment
