"The Sydney Swans will take every measure possible to ensure player safety in Friday's intra-club trial at Henson Park amid the soaring temperatures hitting the city this weekend."

"With the mercury likely to be above 30 degrees at 5.30pm for the first bounce, Swans head of football Tom Harley said the intensity of the heat would dictate how the four 20-minute quarters would be managed."

"........ we've gone a real mix, tried to match up guys pretty evenly and hopefully it's a close game," assistant coach Stuart Dew said."

Jeez Meg, looks as though you slept about as well as I did.

Will be horrible out there, see you all in the shade.

          Didn't know Rampe was injured.

Looking forward to reports from RWO'ers.

There was a Swans article a few days ago saying Rampe was expected to play.

Might have been on the fags again!

Match ups will be interesting, will it mainly be seniors on seniors or will they be testing some likely fringe players on seniors to see how they go.

Tippett vs Cameron in the ruck will be interesting particularly as Cameron might need to come into the frame early whilst Naismith recovers from his shoulder reco.

                      Interclub match pregame report:

Pre-season specialist Dean Towers being held back for round 1 in new strategy to keep him from peaking 3 months too early.

Kennedy and Rampe not playing to keep Henson Park from being overrun by female groupies.

Rose not playing to give Brandon Jack one last chance.

Aliir having his teeth cleaned for UN speaking engagement.

Dawson not playing to continue the mystery of "Why is Dawson not playing?"

Swans twitter says Reid with the first goal but Adam Curley on Twitter says K.Jack with the first goal.

The two are easy to confuse - very similar, physically.

Judging by other tweets, I think the Swans Twitter blinked and missed Jack's goal.

Adam Curley reports: INJURY-plagued forward Sam Reid has started his year in promising fashion with two goals in the first half of the Swans' intra club scratch match in Sydney's inner west.

The players were forced to battle temperatures in excess of 40 degrees, with Reid, who failed to play a senior game in 2016 due to persistent hamstring, calf and Achilles problems, very impressive for the red team opposed to Michael Talia.

The 25-year-old covered plenty of territory up the ground but did his best work inside 50, and could have had five majors for the half if he'd kicked straight.

Dan Hannebery also booted two goals for the red team and found plenty of the footy, as did Harrison Marsh and Jordan Foote, while Kieren Jack with two goals, Isaac Heeney, Zak Jones and big man Darcy Cameron were very good for the white team.

The red team leads the white team 7.5 (47) to 6.4 (40) at the main break.
