Only decent finals he has played are this year. Rohan serviceable in finals we have won and BOG in 2014 Prelim. Cats have won 3 of last 10 finals they have played. Overkill on Rohan as a forward. You could argue Parker has been as bad in the games we have been referencing, especially as a mid fielder.Comment

All I'm saying is that Motlop's stocks have risen way above rohans over the past month.
Interesting that towers has 6 games over 20 possessions. Rohan has 1. Yet towers is the whipping boy. Go figure.
I guess you can avoid making mistakes by not getting the ball.Comment

Jarrad McVeigh has played 300 games, dual Bob Skilton medalist, Premiership captain & an all Australian & I hadn't stopped some from flaying his hide on occasionsComment

And if you offered Geelong a swap of Rohan for Motlop, they would think it was Christmas. He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)Comment

I don't deny that Rohan struggles to do this. I just attribute it to a lack of endurance (for which there is evidence available in the public domain - ie the knowledge that he's not had a pre-season for ages) as opposed to some construct of mental demons, for which I've seen no evidence presented.I personally want to keep him but he's on his last chance. Fail again in finals and he's gone.....

What the? He did a whole interview during the season on his 'mental demons' and pre game nerves! He needs a full time sports psychologist.....oh yeah, and a full pre-season, which he will this year for a change, so we'll see how that goes......I personally want to keep him but he's on his last chance. Fail again in finals and he's gone.....
None of that points to him freezing in big games over and above any other player on our list.
The Swans played plenty of big games during the year. From round 6 onwards they knew they could barely afford a slip up. I saw no evidence of him freezing in the game against the Bombers, or against Richmond.
Point to a game where the team has functioned well in a close game and Rohan's errors or lack of effort have proved to be the difference.
Blaming a thumping on a forward, who needs supply to make a contribution, seems extraordinary to me. Singling him out and creating a thread just to slam him seems particularly odious. No-one's suggesting he's up there with Kennedy, Parker, Rampe, Buddy etc in terms of the most valuable players in the side. But if the coaches didn't like what he brings to the side, or thought he didn't have the mental capacity to deal with the pressures, they wouldn't keep picking him.Comment

Tony Lockett apparently used to puke up with nerves before every game. Lots of players suffer from nerves to some degree, and I have no doubt that Rohan's injury woes have caused him additional issues. And every player who's played in a game like the 2014 GF should have demons to some extent.

Keep rohan worth more than what we would get in return
Same with Alir and with Talia gone it makes our tall stocks even more required
Just has to play Alir and Melican

Also its criminal that we are watching the GF when Richmond make it with their list
Worst team on paper since Melbourne's 2000 GF side
Coaching staff need to wake upComment

Can we officially take Towers and Sinkers off the whipping boy(s) list and replace them with Gaz? Did them the world of good this year. I'm hoping a bit of R&WO pressure will sort him outComment

I would definitely look at him. He kicked 40.16, from 21 games, this season. He lacks defensive pressure but most teams have at least one good forward who is good at scoring but poor at defence.
I should add that Motlop kicked half as many goals from 24 games.Last edited by S.S. Bleeder; 25 September 2017, 02:22 PM.Comment
