Barassi really did a wonderful job in the few years he was at the club, he had some help of course but his contribution is often undervalued I feel.

Every year or so I like to remind those who forget, that Ron Barassi is responsible for everything good that has happened to this team since his stewardship.

He took over what was a rabble, in every way. He taught them how to be a football team, how to manage a football operation and how to be prepared to win...and win for a long time.

Good article by Roosy, whilst we took unders for Tom Mitchell, I think it was the fact that Hawks were bogged down in the O'Meara trade so we took their first pick and moved on with our own trading rather than having to wait for the very late outcome of the O'Meara trade.

The whole handling of Mitchell trade was professional, Tom could stay but had to be on lesser coin than Hawks as we were well stocked with inside mids. We got pick 14 and refreshed our midfield.

Mitchell would not be posting record numbers with us this year because he wouldn't be our number 1 inside mid like he is at Hawthorn. Let's see how he goes tonight.

Agree, Jones will be no great loss, would rather put the money into keeping Reid.

Dusty will command too much.

Zac Jones passed out last week and went to the hospital and had IV still recovering Dusty is 27 next year Zac is 23 Richmond nearly traded a 23 yo dusty lets not trade a 22 yo Jones. Only his second full year at senior level

I am still hoping we play finals and can go as deep into September as possible but there is a silver lining of sorts of we do finish just out of the 8, and not just the fact we will finally get a chance to give our full list a full off season and more importantly a full pre-season.

With Pick 9 or 10, if we lose Reid or Jones, and it is looking increasingly unlikely we'll keep both, then we should be able to bundle up what we get for either of them with our pick 10 and trade for a top 5 pick. Picks 10 and 11 for the Suns' picks 4 and 33 works for us and gives the Suns some points change.

Boddo is a big wrap on Brander and as a NSW lad I'd love to go for him but I imagine if Fogarty was till there we'd seriously consider him to.

Could be a unique chance for us to get a KPF talent in the draft

If we're not fussed about a player of the calibre of Brander or Fogarty then just keep the two picks at 10 and 11 but we won't get the elite KPF talent there

He's still been immense for us this year but he's slowly being held more often and having to work harder for the same results.

I still think that is a fair expectation which means that next year will be the last where Buddy is an out and out match-winner.If we recruit a KPF this year he won't be at full potential by 2019 but he should be able to contribute something with a year in the system under his belt

I don't think he's on the slide yet but it'll be noticeable by the end of next year. He needs help. Someone who takes contested marks. Reid is very important. Like I said it showed last night. Sinclair was what I expected last night which means they get to concentrate on Franklin. We don't draft a couple kpf in the next couple of years n in 3 we'll be in trouble up front. You bring in 2 kpf in the early part of the draft this n next year n by 2019 Franklin will be a very good contributor who supports others n it frees him up a lot. our kpf stocks are horrendous if you take an outside look at it. Tippet - not mobile enough & injury prone, Reid - who knows if he'll even be there next year, Sinclair-concrete hands, pink - a kid, Aliir- not a forward. It's very bad. I always believe our list management is good but not our key forward management. It's why I loved the idea of drafting Hayward last year n would have looked at Marshall if we'd been able to obtain a pick to get him. Don't get me wrong I think Florent will be very good. I think we should be looking at getting Marshall in next years trade period if possible.

Reid is certain to sign a new 4 year deal on offer, so I think we've got our forward line in place until Blakey comes through. Our depth is not great in KPFs, but not many clubs are. There are a couple of good examples that you can have success without a tall forward line. Richmond have been doing quite well with just Jack Riewoldt and Toby Nankervis doesn't do much up forward. And Clarkson showed that you can successfully move around the magnets and put together a winning formula with most of your players seemingly playing out of the position they played when they were drafted.

We may finish too high (hopefully) to be in the mix for Brander and Fogarty, but Noah Balta and Oscar Allen could well be available at our pick. I don't know if they will impress our recruiters enough to be taken if available.

We also have the option of using Aliir as a forward or ruckman. Darcy Cameron can also play as a legitimate forward. He's like Sinclair, but can mark the ball and kick a goal, which is a big advantage if you want to play as a KPF.
