Something else to bear in mind with Rohan is that he's probably never had a full pre-season since he joined the club. He had minor knee issues in his early years, then of course the leg that took a long time to recover from. The last two years he's had back and hamstring issues that have prevented him joining the pre-season sessions and has had a delayed start to the year while he caught up. I don't think he has the natural endurance of a Hannebery or a Lloyd, and he's never had the chance to build a solid foundation of fitness. I am only guessing here, but I suspect he plays with a fair amount of pain in most games. Certainly we know he injured his knee in last year's finals series.
To a team that's high on "grunt" but relatively low on x-factor, I think he's invaluable to the team. Sure he'll have quiet games, and when the engines in the centre aren't getting the job done, he's going to struggle to compensate because he can't run all day (like an Isaac Smith, for example, can). But he's definitely got the tools to turn a solid team performance into something special, just with a few opportunities each game. He's also a player that opposition coaches can't afford to ignore while they focus their defensive attention on Buddy, because he's a good mark and usually reliable (and fairly long) kick. He (and the likes of Papley) are excellent foils for Buddy but they need the midfield to play their part to have an impact.Comment

Rubbish. He plays quick. He plays high pressure footy. If our midfield can do their job, he'll do his. But he's not going to cover up for the midfield if they get overrun again.Comment

I'm amazed at the focus on Rohan rather than Zak Jones's disposal. He runs well but his disposal has been horrible for weeks. I worry about him in finals not Rohan who I think is playing better this year than ever. I wonder if he is truely getting his confidence back after the leg break. He just seems more composed and his efforts more targeted rather than the
manic chases & kamikaze contests. Jones on the other hand is some way off being a really significant contributor. Being hard at the
contest is only part of the game...Comment

He's insanely good in terms of forward pressure and forces opponents in to mistakes. Wasted throwing him behind the ball.Comment

I am loathe to say it, but I kind of agree with Barry. If we were to go back to the GF threads about the last two GFs, then the board was smashing Rohan for his performances. I love the guy but he doesnt get enough of the ball to be the superstar that he could be. Having said that, if he only gets 3 disposals for 3 goals in this year's GF then I would be pretty happy (if we win).
As I said, I love Gazza, but I am apprehensive as to what we will get from him in a pressure game.Comment

I find it hard to comment on GF performances because I love the team, the fans, the world when we win and I never rewatch a losing Grand Final ever.
That spring afternoon remains dead to me for 2006, 2014 and 2016. Though I didn't hate 2006 as much as 2016 and 2014 was beyond awful.Comment
