I think Ludwig must have had a chat with Horse about that. Towers looks great playing in the ruck. Clunkers looked amazing destroying AA defender Hurley

I have a comment on this in the game thread. Give yourself a treat Coach.

An ice bath?? Thought he only made the players endure that.

Now that we're on horses, has anyone else noticed the strange horse like sound that Ray Chamberlain makes, when he bangs the ball into the turf for the centre bounce? Trust me: once you notice it, it's hard to un-notice it.

Ray has many mechanisms to draw attention to himself as he struts around. In spite of this vanity, actually think he is probably one of, if not, the best ump.

I thought he umpired excellently yesterday. He's also not one for home town favourism; if anything, he pushes back against it.

I agree. In my view Chamberlain is a much improved (and far less 'obvious') umpire than a couple of years ago when we hated to get him for a Swans match.

I'd be happy to have him in a GF. Strong streak of independence.

Yes, I agree. I do think that he probably is the best umpire these days. Though there are probably a few that I haven't really noticed. Which might actually make them better?
It will be interesting to see if he progresses further into the finals. Or will the AFL persist with some of the umpires, who have many fans reaching for the nearest conspiracy theory.

If Richmond make the GF and he is not selected ... you read it here first ... the fairytale fix is on again.

Oh no, what have I done!? It seems that I've turned the Longmire thread into a lovefest for Ray Chamberlain? Is that one of the signs that the end times are upon us?

Who was the widely hated ump before Ray? I've blanked out his name. (Though later, he said letting the 2005 semi go without blowing the whistle much was his proudest moment.)
