So many things just didn't go our way tonight. It seems to always happen against Hawthorn. But no reason to hate Hawthorn. They're just a bunch of players trying to win; same as our guys.

Longmire is a bit of slow learner. We were unlucky with losing Lloyd and Rohan, but why not shell out an extra plane fare and a hotel room to get Aliir in Melbourne. He surely with have helped us from getting destroyed in the contested marking.

We should have had Tippett in the side instead of Naismith. We had to play Sinclair because he had one good game and needed to prove that he couldn't repeat it. Ruckmen are a pretty useless lot unless they can clunk marks around the ground, like McEvoy, for instance.

We had so many better players in the reserves than the ones we took to Melbourne. Harry Marsh has been playing consistently well and we all know that Dawson has been on fire all season. Foote and Robbo. What a waste.

What a better side we would have had with Aliir, Tippett, Marsh and Dawson instead of Naismith, Robinson, Foote and Hayward.

We are constantly falling victim to mismatches in our defence despite playing well as unit. It really cost us tonight.

Tonight's game showed why we need to find a decent ruckman - hawthorn can play through McEvoy because he is mobile and can take a mark - non of our ruckman can take a mark so back to Tippett we go,

Blaming the coach because we drop marks and the hawks take them is laughable - watch the replay and you will see how bad some our stars were tonight - blaming the coach is a cop out on our players

He deserves his share of the blame. Half of the selected 22 were not fit. Rohan, Lloyd, Jones, Hanners, JPK, KJ (looks like the hip again). Longmire's Achilles heel playing half fit players. On top of that, not serious about the emergency selections.

I only had the radio coverage to go on, but it sounded like a battlefield with all the players going off with injuries. Naismith and Sinclair both playing with injuries, Kennedy apparently had some work on the hamstring. Both sides are going to have a lot of sore players. Losing two good players before the game didn't help.

We did damn well to keep them to no score for a long path of the third quarter. Kicking for goal was ordinary. The boxmaggot apparently didn't think Melican touched it in the last for the goal that put them in front.

A lot of things didn't seem to go our way, but really, these opponents always play well against us and we have had trouble with them for a while. How come we lost to them twice and Gold Coast beat them twice?

Newman, fair dinkum a very outsmart player.Butchered the footy all game. Kick out was horrible. That last play. Wow. Just kicked to the pack, took a week to move it on and he had 2 players running down the flank. Should have kicked it long over the top. Has got way ahead of himself.

29 disposals at 83% DE. He was one of our better players on the night. He made a few mistakes, but probably fewer than most.

I thought Melican punched that ball through for a point. That call hurt us. We should have only lost by 1 point. It was a poor game from Melican this time around. That's what happens when you get a rising star nomination.

We can't win a flag with him in the team. The question is can we win a flag without him?

My main concern now is the injury toll. Fit, this team is more than capable of travelling down to Geelong next week and coming away with four points, but wouldn't want to be without Kennedy, Lloyd and Rohan.

Yeh Kennedy is a real worry - and we saw how much again Lloyd is now a key cog in this team. We lost so much of that calmness coming out of the back that he seems to have, plus seems to create in other players as well.

He had a poor game, but criticism of his last kick is harsh imo.

There were 30 seconds on the clock, we needed a goal and he was on the half back wing. He had to take a risk and bring it in board. He had no obvious runners nearby, so had to roll the dice. He is in a poor patch of form, but I can't see an obvious replacement, and we have seen that he has a lot of quality when on song.

Agree with this 100%. Seriously hope he retires this year and does chase the 300 if he gets injured or we get knocked out week 1.

I'll have two lasting images of McVeigh when he retires one the way he sell candy second to none. The second and more everlasting and engrained is him chasing an opponent with an out stretched hand but never quite getting there.

McVeigh statistically probably had a great game, but I stand by my comment. His defensive pressure is non existant. On a big ground, in a final.....
