Thanks, liz. There was a while there where I wasn't keeping up with posting so your post and numerous others have unfortunately passed me by. I'll have a look for the video.

Some other players that may are being touted as potentially moving during this trade period and whom may be of interest: Scrimshaw, Setterfield (both top 10 picks two years ago I think) and (a favourite of Ludwig) Finlayson. I don't know why Carlton are front-runners to get Setterfield - maybe because they have pole position in the PSD? Don't know that we can get him but it seems he's going to be released cheaply and I love a bargain! I only heard that Scrimshaw may be on the move for the first time today. He hasn't taken flight at the Suns (and so now he might take flight from the Suns).
All opinions are not equal. Some are a very great deal more robust, sophisticated, and well supported in logic and argument than others. -Douglas Adams, author (11 Mar 1952-2001)

U18: Is your club looking for a gun midfielder? - AFL.com.au

I just went and had a quick look at the AFL site and found the video I was referring to. Ely Smith is the third of the three players they talk about.

Here's a profile from Knightmare/Chris Doerre: AFL Draft Chris Doerre Knightmare Contested midfielders on the rise. The profile is from May and said Smith was "on the rise" but at that stage Smith "projected as a late chance". You'd have to think his stocks have risen and he will now be drafted. But when?

        * there is a player called Mosquito! Irving Mosquito no less.

Chris Doerre has also been brave enough to produce a phantom draft: AFL Draft First round phantom who goes where. It's worth is limited by the fact that picks will be traded extensively before the draft. Still it's interesting. He has Blakey sliding to pick 12. Walsh going pick 1 and Lukosius to Gold Coast at pick 2. Lukosius would be great for the Suns and what they need. On that point, I read somewhere recently that GC might then be inclined to use pick 3 to get Rozee, who is a good buddy of Lukosius, to increase the chance of retaining them both down the track. This strategy has been happening a little bit the past few years (especially by Brisbane and GC but also by us e.g. with McCartin and Ling last year) but we have not seen the fruits of it and whether it works. If it does work, I think it is worth the Suns taking that approach and reaching a little for Rozee (who is by all accounts a good player anyway). Helps Blakey slide further for us too!
Wouldn't they take Rankine over Rozee?
I'd be very happy if Blakey slipped to 12. I wondered if we might try to swap our pick 13 with North to get us up the draft (given they are going to use theirs on Polec)

No, the list cloggers are the players we have released....

Towers, Foote, and those likely to go...Rohan, Newman.... (then a few rookies in Styles and Brown)

          So IMO comparing...

          1) Towers 28yrs
          2) Newman26yrs
          3) Rohan 27yrs
          4) Foote 22yrs

          Potentially replaced by...

          1) Duryea - 27 yrs (Hawks)
          2) Clarke - 21 yrs(Kangas)
          3) Vandenberg - 26 yrs (Demons)
          4) Jonas - 27yrs(Power)

All about the same age...Not a bad result.

All these players played most, or all, of the season in their respective 1sts...I wouldn't call them list cloggers.
Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect... MT

Just heard on SEN Geelong will be trying to get Rohan by offering pick 42 they'll potentially receive from other trades.

This from Simon Lethlean of the Saints (this morning).....

"Dan Hannebery and Dean Kent have nominated St Kilda as their preference so there's some work to do on both those.

We don't know [if we'll need extra picks to get Hannebery done]. We're talking to the Swans now, we've got picks, we've got future picks and we've got players so all those assets can be used.

"We've had preliminary discussions with the Swans and that will take a few days I'm sure to flesh itself out."

So players and picks are in the equation for Dan......

                  UPDATE from sportingnews.com

Geelong has sent small forward Lincoln McCarthy to Brisbane along with picks 54 and 57, and in return received picks 42 and 60 from the Lions.

It’s likely the Cats will then on-trade pick 42 to Sydney in exchange for Gary Rohan.

Pick 42 seems a little light for Rohan, but when you think he couldnt get a game in our 2018 forward line, then I guess you take it.
Adam Goodes was pick 43. Like mining asteroids, they are difficult and hard to find, but in theory there is gold out there.

Well the Cats just traded pick 42 to Carlton for their priority state league mature player access, and will acquire SANFL 19 year old Nathan Kreuger.

                      Cats now have picks 11, 49, 58, 60 and 86.

I reckon we might end up with 49 + 60 for instance for Rohan. Won't get much more for him given their lack of currency.

Just before the above deal was done, the Geelong List Manager was asked on radio if pick 42 would be suffice to get Rohan which he replied with an emphatic NO! I got the impression from that blunt answer that Geelong think pick 42 is overs! List Manager went on to say few more hurdles to get over before a deal gets done, but optimistic it will adding they (Geelong) have historically good trade relations with the Swans.

I'm hoping deal involves receiving Jackson Thurlow!

Would you prefer Jackson Thurlow or Jordan Murdoch for Rohan?

Neither. And Gaz is worth a lot more that pick 42!

Three way trade, Roahn to Geelong, Horlin-Smith to Gold Coast and we''ll have Brodie.
