Do you think the commentator might work out that Knoll doesn't have an 'S' in it...

That quarter emphasised the fact that the Lions, have had virtually no injuries all season. This means that their reserves have a huge advantage in AFL experience and also have been playing together, as a more or less cohesive unit, all season. At NEAFL level, that makes them very hard to handle.
For us, Ronke, Rose, McInerney and Wicks were possibly our best.Comment

I thought we drafted Knoll for his ruck work??? For an ex basketballer he can hardly get off the ground when he jumps!

He uses his bulk well with bodywork but doesn't jump much at all. He's winning the hit outs but not many are going to advantage. We are getting absolutely smashed in the clearances.Comment

I was going to say that we need to give Stoddart another run in the seniors as he's been good fro a number of weeks now using his run and skills off of half back. Then he gets injured...

Just to emphasise my point about AFL experience: the Lions have 9 players who have played at AFL level, who have a total of 454 games experience. We have 6 players, for a total of 39 games. Ronke with 23, is the only player we have with more than 10.
Ronke was playing pretty well. Rose was probably our best. McInerney and Stoddart showed some skills from limited opportunities. As did Hirst, who did a few flashy things. McKellar battled pretty hard in an under siege defence.Comment

A hard day at the office for our NEAFL side, against a stable and experienced Lions side, who have been thrashing everyone this season. Some good performances though. Rowbottom was possibly our best, with some good clearance work. He also benefitted from some nice tap work from our recent signing, Knoll: who was pretty good, with his roving goal one of our highlights. The other recent signing, Hirst, did some good things, but I don't think he played in the second half. Hope he's not injured already. Rose was our leading possession getter, but he probably could've used it better. McInerneny used it well from limited opportunities. Cameron had a reasonable game, as did Amartey, who was generally playing in the unfamiliar role of key defender. Also in defence, a couple of the toppies did well: McKellar won a fair few contests, as did Van Huistedde. Another academy player, Kilpatrick, kicked a couple of sharp, opportunist goals and was involved in some of our better passages of play.Comment
