He's got a VFL contract with GWS. So, I guess his long term injury problems have improved.

Of our other delisted players: Rankin has been signed by VFL club Port Melbourne; Gould has gone back to SA and will play with Glenelg, and Clarke is running around in the NTFL with Waratah.

Thanks deja. From Marc's point of view, I am happy that he is able to continue his career. However, I am very disappointed that he ended up on the GWS list after having been developed by the Swans for so long and having showed so much promise..
We have them where we want them, everything is going according to plan!

"for so long".....two years? Or was it three?

He came through the Academy in the same year as Gulden and Campbell. Not sure when his first year was though.

While it's a bit of shame that an academy player is now playing for someone else, I tended to rate Sheather as someone who might develop into a reasonable AFL level midfielder, if everything went right; rather than the sort of player who would have Victorian media types ranting about our academy. And along those lines, it might be useful if a few players that we've developed run around with other clubs, just so our management can make the argument that the academy is not only for our benefit. It's also seems worthwhile if a few more academy graduates play in the VFL and SANFL, and also raise the standard of the SFL.

And on former academy players, it looks like Pierce Roseby has signed for our VFL team, after spending a couple of seasons playing for Frankston. He's a tough, small midfielder, who was possibly a touch unlucky not to be rookie listed a few years ago.

May still have a career. Time with us was cruelled by serious injury issues. And we now have a glut of midfielders on our list.

Saw Don Pyke back in Perth - apparently lived around the corner from me in Sydney and I never saw him, spend a week in Perth and there he is.

Also saw Ben Cousins who was ripped (by which I mean buff, not under the influence).

Good to see Dan Hannebery saying what we've all known about the 2016 grand final:

“Some of those free kick goals…”: Why former Swan finds it hard to move on from 2016 Grand Final loss

Sadly it just confirms what we all know, including AFL head quarters. It was an absolute disgrace

Free kick count ended at 20-8. At one stage, it was 20-4.

I just read that Kieran Jack is working with the Eagles in a non-football role. The head of strategy and innovation, whatever that means. Don Pyke's influence no doubt.

Average VFL level player at best, really can’t see anything to suggest he’s an AFL standard player

Thanks, I was wondering what next for Kieren. I read a while ago that Kieren, Charlotte and junior Jack moved to Perth. I think Charlotte is the Perth Channel 10 news anchor + Perth is her family home town. Just hope we don’t now see them wearing blue and gold …

I have never watched the 2016 GF. I was behind the goals (only game EVER behind the goals) at City End. Saw Tom Mitchell’s best game and best goal(s???) for the Swans. Injuries took place down the other end as I recall. Anyway, my count if you include goals for free kick errors and non-goals from no free kicks given it totals 7. 42 points!!! And we mere STILL ahead parish in the 2nd half. #crying

I was also behind the city end goals for the 2016 GF. I felt we had the ascendency in general play & whenever it looked we were going to get right on top, a spate of inexplicable frees to the Dogs kept changing the momentum at critical times.

By half time I had this sickening feeling the umpiring had become our main opponent, which will prove too much for us to overcome despite being the better team. It was a kick in the guts when the final siren rang. I nevertheless congratulated some of the old time Bulldogs supporters around me as I left, recalling 2005 personally.

I agonsingly watched the replay that night to see if the umpiring was actually that bad, only to find it was even worse!!! Saw myself standing up & giving the "up yours" to Toby McLean in the 2nd half, after he missed a close set sot for goal after being rewarded a ridiculous high contact free when he deliberately ducked into the tackle instead getting rid of the ball. By this stage, along with all the other Swans supporters around me, the doggies frees procession and our non decisions had become too much.

Dan Hannerbery's article on his reflection of the 2016 GF posted above, is as close as he could say that we were robbed of a premiership by corrupt umpiring!!!!
