Bennell has a lot more upside than Menzel. If we decide we want to recruit him after a medical test, I think he’s a pretty low risk, high reward recruitment.

I can't see how Carlisle helps the Swans. At 28 in October, some injury concerns and off field issues, he's not exactly the kind of player we should want to add to our playing group. It also shuts the door for senior football for a lot of players competing for the main key defender role: Melican, McCartin, Pink, Maibaum. What happens to them?
Anyway, I don't think a swap would be on offer. Perhaps Blake Acres for Jones wouldn't be bad, but I think Acres may be part of a Brad Hill deal, considering Acres is from Perth, but that's just conjecture as I don't recall anything about Acres wanting to 'go home'.
I can understand that clubs would be interested in both Jones and Papley, but I don't see what the big draw would be for them to want to leave the Swans, nor why the Swans should capitulate and let either go easily.Comment

But he is also known for getting drunk and then picking fights. IF we risk him I would say one year would be enough.

I would let Jones go for the right reward - 16-25 ish draft pick - he is young quick and tough so would be disappointed to get less than that. Papley I would hang on to IF he wants to stay. Not sure why Melbourne would be a big pull for him when he is from Bunyip about 120KM's away.
Carlisle I would consider if Saints paid say 300K of his 750K salary. I think I would back the club to straighten him up off field.
The biggest question for our recruiters is which ruckmen do we hold on to? Sinclair for sure, but what about Naismith, Cameron and Knoll? I would hang on to Cameron before the other two.Comment

I see that Coniglio has just signed a long term deal to stay with the Giants. Good for him. While I'm no great fan of the Giants, I'm pleased that Hawthorn and Clarkson didn't get their way. Especially since some of the media, had already seemed to assume that it was a fait accompli.Comment

We don't know the ins and outs of his personal situation. He may have a good reason. Or it may all be BS. Or his agent trying to renegotiate his current contract for more $?Comment

I am sick to death of Hawthorn having a bottomless pit of money for players. I know some that go there get less money but have a look who they have recruited since Frawley - all would be on big cash.Comment

Looks like the AFL big wigs supported the gws coniglio stay in Sydney contract"be tough, only when it gets tough"

Trade out : Jones
Trade In : Bennell and Martin
Now that would be amazing
Imagine both players in full flight alternating between the HBF and Forward Pocket In 2020 with buddy
It would be a riot !
Oh well we can keep dreaming and see what eventuates but it would be quite possible $ wise you would think given we have the youngest list in the Comp ?"be tough, only when it gets tough"

Anyway, it seems that he wants to go to Victoria, as they all do, so not much to contemplate here.Comment

Yep I would not be going near Jack Martin. OK player but that is it. Hopefully Carlton or Hawthorn get him as I hate those clubs.Comment

The whole Mitchell situation and to a lesser extent Membrey and Nankervis, just stank to high heaven. We got so done over.
If the club brokers similar deals or worse, I think we as supporters need to revolt. Maybe a peaceful sit in at HQ until whoever is responsible resigns.Comment

Sounds like Carlton are convinced they can split pick 8 into two first round picks and that will be enough for Paps and Martin ?
If that is the case let’s make it difficult and paps stays if the rumours are true
Ps jack Martin won’t be achieving $600k pa plus at a decent club. The only reason he is on that salary is because he was at the Suns
I don’t think even Carlton would spend that pa would they ?
Saints might though lol
I think jack Martin if he was smart would take a $450k pa at the Swans and tear it apart with buddy in his final years
Staying away from the intensity of Melbourne and VFL would be smart
Ps pretty sure Martin and Jones have the same AFL fantasy points avge and one player is in a completely crap team and the other is in a much stronger team and culture
Martin double the amount of tackles per gameLast edited by Auntie.Gerald; 27 August 2019, 09:39 PM."be tough, only when it gets tough"
