    yep and captain young Byrnes

Same height weight stats at 18yrs as Toby Greene and looks like him lol

Ps apologies meant to say “almost” re 1996. All fixed........typing on the iPhone last couple of days.....nightmare !

The angle re Lockett was we had only 8 wins in 1995 had big plugger join us with maxfield in 1995 then presto we pushed up to 16wins and a GF appearance in 1996

Happens all the time from way back to Anthony Rocca right through to Papley/Daniher today. Most times it gets done in the last day.

Don’t waist this week listening to trade radio n garbage like that. Look for updates each morning then watch/listen the last day.

We're talking Dododoro so I fixed that last word for you
It’s not just Dodoro, every big name player has gone down to the wire.

And some like diesel went after trade period had finished.

Thrashed North at princes park in ‘96.

You just knew it was gonna be a big year when in the dying stages of a game early in the season we were just ahead with the commentators in absolute astonishment scream “look at Lockett”. He was chasing on a hff/wing after the ball like he was prepared to kill to get it.

          Right then n there I turned to a m8 & said “it’s gonna be a big year”

The Essendon FC and the Melbourne media hit job on Tom Harley is totally uncalled for and an attack on Sydney's integrity. This sort of stuff goes on all the time. Certainly Essendon was in contact with Dylan Shiel, Adam Saad, Jake Stringer and Devon Smith, or their managers, before those deals came to pass. In any case, Tom Harley and Joe Daniher could have had 50 phone conversations during the year that no one would be privy to except for ASIO, the CIA, the KGB, the NSA. Guccifer 2.0 and perhaps as few as 10,000 other spy agencies and hackers. So everything could have been hashed out without meeting in a coffee shop in public and no one would be the wiser. It's all meant to turn public opinion against the Swans.

On the other hand, it appears to be perfectly okay to openly talk about plucking players from GWS and Gold Coast as if it is a Melbourne birthright. Just today Simon Lethlean was talking about getting Ben King from GC to join his brother at the Saints. No Gold Coast player is off limits to talk to or talk about, so long as it's part of a heartbreaking story about a poor boy just wanting to go home to mamma.

The Swans' management have to be twice as good as any Melbourne management to stay on level terms. It's really important that we play this trade period wisely and not get rolled over, like is so often the case. We haven't had a big trade year since 2013, thanks to the AFL CEO and Commission.

When Tom Harley says he's going to do what's best for the club, he should make sure that's the case.

Game you refer to re Lockett was v Richmond at Waverley. We won narrowly and never looked back. May have been our first win after going 0 and 2.

Don't think the Richmond game was the first win. From memory, we scrapped out a win in a very low skilled game against the Pies in round 3 that year.

I raised an eyebrow when I read that.

Clubs had a good ole whinge about the draft pick package given to Gold Coast this year, but they need to realise that they have to stop acting like vultures if GC is ever to have a chance to establish a solid playing roster. None of the commentators creaming themselves during the GF about the ex-GC talent playing for Richmond (Prestia, Lynch, Caddy) seemed to realise the implications of what they were saying.

Daniher has kicked 188 goals in his first 7 years, compared to 451 for Franklin. Daniher has only had one standout year. What makes him a superstar? Ben Brown has kicked 278 in just 6 years. Joe doesn't have the runs on the board. Everything about him is just potential; what he could be, but hasn't been, except for 1 year. Let him get one more good year before chasing him. Daniher is a holy name in Melbourne and Joe's value has been blown way out of proportion to the reality.

They're like vultures, and the more voracious the better.

I think I have a VCR of that game and a bunch of others from '96 in a box under the house somewhere. I obviously had too much
spare time back then. Pretty sure the game finishes with Plugger soccering the ball along in front of him towards the boundary.
Our entire team is no more than 50M from their goal at the end.

I think it's more likely we'll trade Cameron to Collingwood for a future pick with a pick swap.

Yep, and just prior to that, Tigers had what looked a certain goal to win the game but Richo infringed on Dunkley on the goal line and gave away a free instead. Brilliant! And a serious melt from Richo I reckon...

I was actually driving my car listening to the end of that game. Pulled over for the very last bit , thankfully.

Take your word for it Liz. Board held their nerve with Eade who really was a smart tactician in the early days.
