A reasonable result for us in the end. I thought that they would do the Papley deal in the end but no dice. Ok not brilliant deal on Jones. We should be able to draft some good young talent now with our first 3 picks.

Apparently Essendon are Ok according to Kane Cornes because they held on to an injury prone Daniher....we are losers in the Trade period however.Comment

Jones deal is for an equivalent 23 or 24, I would say, valuing the future swap at around 200 points. That's fine. About the same as the Langdon deal.
We improved our draft position both this year and next/
I feel that Papley wasn't really all that keen to go. It was just some 'family' pressure. He loves the Swans.
And we can wait till next year for Daniher if we still want him. We can now play both Naismith and Sinclair, fitness willing, in the same side. It also helps sort out our KPP situation, where we've got a lot of players, but we can now buy time to see who is worth keeping and who is not.
My grade for the Swans trade period is an A.Comment

We:
- have 4 picks in the first three rounds, including pick 5.
- picked up a former Rising Star.
- held on to our top goalscorer in 2019.Comment

I feel some sense of relief. A Daniher deal where we gave up 5, 9 (Jones) and a good young player like McCartin for Joe was just too risky. Mortgaging the future for a very uncertain outcome. Some might see us as losing out today but let's see how it all looks in 12 months time!

It gives us a year without a big Daniher salary and a year to see if he gets fit. If he still wants to come next year we can get him free or trade, wasn't an immediate need for where we are.
Lost Jones, added Taylor, improved draft position this year and 2020.
Made a statement we are not massively over paying for players nor are we letting guys out of contracts. Well done to the traders and club, I'm happy.Comment

TBH it was a B or C. Only reason you could give it an A because it could of been so so much worse with trading all our picks for Daniher and losing Papley and Jones for nothing like the media was making out. An A would of seen a decent ruck or inside mid come into the sideComment

Agree though, good trade period.
- Set the right Daniher red line of pick 5 - Green or Serong.
- Didn't cave on Papley.
- Traded intelligently otherwise.Comment
