You could say something similar about Jarryd Lyons delisted by GCS and now a key player for the Lions. If he has genuinely overcome his calf issues, as is claimed, and the club believes he's over his personal issues, then his upside would make him too good to pass up. IMHO. That's a lot of ifs, but he could be in the Stack / Pickett basket.

Pink and Hirst delisted. Pink a bit unlikely. He was pretty solid this year. A likely reprieve for Maibaum. The writing was on the wall for young Hirst once we signed Squizzy.Comment

I was guessing we might bring in rookie Hamish Ellem to play a swing tall role in the NEAFL hence maibaum and pink under a bit of pressure
Amartey and McLean to continue to develop in multiple roles / ruck / forward / FB
Maibaum for me has a little more genuine flexibility to be able to play a few roles in the backline and was a forward up to 17yrs or age like pink was
I suppose we will be driving towards more midfielders and pocket rockets to join the club via the rookie list"be tough, only when it gets tough"

Don't understand all the love for Robertson on here. Would basically be a list clogger IMO as I really can't see where we would play him in our senior side ahead of any of the youngsters we have coming through.
Bit disappointed that Pink got delisted. I really liked the look of him, especially in the 2nd half of the year as a key defender and would have liked to see him get a shot in the seniors.

So we have 4 retirees (+Tippett?) and 4 delistings, traded Jones and picked up Lewis Taylor. So we have roughly 8(9?) list availabilities, 6 of which are senior list?
Have we added any rookies to our senior list? Amartey could be worth adding to the senior list.
Sorry bit behind the 8ball here.
In regards to Robertson, I understand your concern, but I think he is a good hard midfielder, and as slow as our midfield is we need another inside bull with Kennedy slowing down and Parker being a bit all over the shop. Robertson would allow Hewett to do be that bull and for Robertson to play a good hard tag. However it would make it hard for Clarke to get a game...Last edited by longmile; 25 October 2019, 08:40 PM.Comment

Im not very happy with Gardiner's wording in the delisting announcements. Rose and Tucker were 2 different situations as were Pink and Hirst. Rose and Pink have been on the list for at least 3 years but Tucker 1 year and Hirst 5 minutes. Very generic and without any empathy for different circumstances. I thought Pink showed some real talent and growth and Hirst only had short time to show his talent. Tucker is the real unlucky one for the short time he had to recover from serious injury after starring in tge WA Colts comp for Peel. Clubs are so ruthless nowadays which I understand. But Gardiner could have been better with his words for each delisted player.Comment

Assuming Bell was signed onto the senior list and not a Cat B rookie. And that Menzel and Maibaum get resigned to the senior list and Wicks as a Cat B rookie.
I think that means it could be
34 Senior List
4 Cat A Rookie (Amartey, Knoll, Mclean and Reynolds)
2 Cat B Rookie (O'Connor and Wicks)
So possibly draft 4 unless we sign a free agent. And take 3 rookies unless we leave a spot open for the mid season drafts.Comment

Too many permutations until the club issues clarifications on the list status of the retained rookies. Unless there is a pick swap you would think we're taking four picks to the draft.
Senior list was 39, McVeigh, Grundy, Smith, KJ, Rose, Jones, Cameron, list now 32 so 6-8 spots to fill, I suspect just 6, 4 ND, 2 coming in/upgrades
Cat A Rookies, Amartey, Knoll, McLean, Reynolds now just 4 so if main list is 38 that 2 rookies need, both early picks in the RD
So likely we'll take 4 in the ND, grab 2 we don't know about yet DFA or a rookie upgrade, have two RD picks. Very complicated!
GWS is interesting, delisted four players yesterday but seems there are promises to redraft three of them. Only ex Blue Dylan Buckley has actually been shown the door.Comment

Hes a 27 year old with calf problems which as a result have limited him to 2 games in 4 years and only averaged 15 games a season when he was fully up and running.
Waste of resources and time and if he was anywhere near AFL level , Fremantle wouldnt have wasted so much time and resource , only to let him go .Last edited by stevoswan; 26 October 2019, 10:25 AM.Comment

Maybe the most recent operations he has had will turn out to make a difference, but until he actually trains and plays for an extended period, we can't know. It's hardly surprising that Bennell's management team (and Bennell himself) would be spruiking the latest treatment as the "wonder cure" as they try to get him another opportunity, but the proof will be in the pudding.
So there's nothing incorrect about Mr Magoo's observations about his calves. Nor anything to suggest he hasn't already read the same media spin as you have.
I'm neither particularly "for" or "against" the recruitment of Bennell. But whichever club does recruit him (if any do), will do so knowing they are speculating somewhat.Comment

He was on Freo's list for four years, and suffered ongoing calf issues throughout. You don't think that Freo tried a range of different treatments to fix them?
