It appears as though the Hewett update may be driven from him being expected to have a high or unmatchable when he comes out of contract at the end of next year. If that's the case, it might be the right move to shop him around now. There's always a lot more going on than we know from a SEN update.Comment

So you virtually lose two players for a pick 1. Who will not be any better than pick 2-5. That's really smart that is. What's more you lose a seasoned player who was runner up in the Bob Skilton Medal in 2019. Very short sighted

Meanwhile, Brisbane has offered a future third-round selection for Nakia Cockatoo.
Geelong is currently weighing up its options after asking for more than pick 53 in this year’s draft earlier in the week.
The Cats offered Cockatoo a one-year deal on basic money, while the Lions have proposed a two-season contract.
Cockatoo, the former No. 10 draft selection, appears destined for the Lions
Destination anywhere but Sydney unless u only use the draft ?"be tough, only when it gets tough"

Afl website saying our move for Hickey will only happen if Aliir departs for Port due to salary cap and list size reasons.Comment

If AA and GH are up for trade. (BIG IF) We would want a serious ruck in exchange. Or at least if our salary cap in under pressure, serious relief of our cap $.
What if Hickey end up at Port and we get Ladhams
While players can play tall, you have to be 2.000+ to be tall
Ruck we need how to get one... ready to roll that is.
No to Cox is my vote!

There's a fair bit of presumptive agony on here; let's at least wait until Thursday evening or draft night, even.
I'm not as convinced as others that Aliir and Hewett are best 22 in our next finals winning team - especially Aliir. Our best tall/medium defenders, in my view, are McCartin, Rampe, Melican and Mills, with Fox next up in the minds of the coaches. Aliir is behind Mills and Fox. We also have Gould and Brand.
Regarding mids, the following are competing
for a start over the next two years: Kennedy, Parker, Rowbottom, Florent, Stephens, Blakey, Campbell, Gulden, McInerney - with Heeney and Mills able to shift in there. Warner and Clarke depth.
If Aliir and Hewett leave to make way for Hickey and points for the Academy picks, that's clearly not great. But if they leave for Ladhams or Lycett, players who'd themselves make our team much better, that's fair enough.Comment

Hmm. That article seems to suggest that Aliir's call on whether to sign for Port will be the decisive factor, which is surprising, as he seems ready to go.Comment

Aliir was quoted in another article as saying on his return from Adelaide that he would speak to his family first before deciding.Comment

I wonder why we are chasing Hickey yet we seemed not to be in the market for Wright, Martin or Preuss. They all seem better gets than Hickey.
It's sad to hear that we're having salary cap problems with such a young team. What's going to happen when we make the finals?Comment

Destination via draft forced
Destionation via trade not forced"be tough, only when it gets tough"

Pretty obvious that sacrificing a handy tagger to get Logan would be a no brainer. Those who have the greatest power to hurt us are those we love.Comment

If we end up with Ladhams and some picks up give up Aliir and Hewitt.. that looks like a win for both clubsComment
