I'd be more comfortable to lose Hewett than AA, but hopefully it's an either/or arrangement, and Hickey/Cox will cost us less in $ and picks than whoever we lose

Despite the fact they've used a picture of Lloyd in the article, we are looking to trade Hewett!
We are tight on our salary cap, which is "complicating" the Tom Hickey deal. I guess Buddy's $1.5m next year will do that. Also AA has had a medical at Port
Sydney exploring trade for midfielder
Sydney has been exploring a trade for George Hewett. In something of a surprise, the Swans are open to the possibility of dealing Hewett to a rival club with a year to run on his contract. Hewett has grown into a hardworking, accountable midfielder since breaking into the Swans’ line-up in 2016, but a back injury and subsequent surgery cruelled his 2020 season. It’s understood Sydney’s salary cap is tight, forcing them to consider options. Hewett also qualifies for free agency at the end of next season after eight years at the SCG.
But Hewett is determined to stay at the club.He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)Comment

I assume we would have been OK without Covid, but salary cap and list size reduction are causing a problem.Comment

Not happy. All opinions are not equal. Some are a very great deal more robust, sophisticated, and well supported in logic and argument than others. -Douglas Adams, author (11 Mar 1952-2001)Comment

What the hell is going on with the Swans?
Losing AA and George Hewett? This is really sad if we lose both.... I cannot understand the list management (unless the club was budgeting for a sizeable increase in the cap over the remaining few years of the Buddy deal - quite clearly this will not happen).
I am amazed that it has come to this .. we are turning into Collingwood... and we didn't even make the GF two years agoComment

I'd be very surprised if we traded out Hewett. I'm not sure why we'd be under salary cap pressure. With such a young list, there's no way Buddy's contract is forcing that.
We should hold any hysterical views until the end of the trade window.
I'm still perplexed on the Aliir to Port discussion. His management says he wants to play as a permanent back, but Port say they see him as a Westhoff replacement. If I was Port, I'd be offering a ruck for him in a heartbeat.Comment
