I didn't know this. When and where did he say this? Got a link?

I can see Sam retiring and being off our list next season - albeit with a payout that will count in our salary cap but freeing up room for another player.

I'm pretty sure I heard it on one of his pressers, so it will be on the Swans' website. Maybe someone else can confirm this.

Here is the FC segment from Wednesday night where Matthew Lloyd gives his Joe Daniher synopsis. I get the impression Lloyd might be hinting to Daniher that we won't able to manage his injuries any better by highlighting the injury list with our key forwards. He is still making out that we were chasing JD from the outset, when a well researched Jack Niall article clearly showed JD approached us first. I recall Lloyd being one of many pushing JD was worth 2 x top 10 picks (5 & 9) during last trade period, yet he still hasn't managed to play a game in 2 years! We would've lost Papley to get that trade done, who is now leading the Coleman & is AA bound! We managed to dodge a hail of bullets & not just one!

Yes, and under that scenario, we wouldn't have got pick 5, Stephens. Plus if Daniher was on the scene, we may have got rid of one of our young talls, like McLean or Amartey. And with increased salary cap pressure, probably also on the line, would have been a handy journeyman, like Fox, or a not quite in the best 22 youngster, like Stoddardt. All that to increase our already lengthy injury list.

But a long injury list is the best excuse for failure. We shouldn't give that up too easily.

And if we got to 46 players on the injury list, would we achieve a state of Zen like serenity?

We would, but Horse would have a nervous breakdown.

Yes I remember reading a quote from Longmire in one of the papers saying that Naismith would play on.

Very unhappy, LOLNorf just stole pick 2 from uswith an inept display tonight. Why has it turned to mush so quickly for Rhyce?

                      No Ben Cunnington, no North

If we get a high draft pick we have to go for the best tall available.

How could North's list be overrated? They need pick 2 even more than we do.

                          *****

We have to find a way to get in a good ruck. Although where to find the trade currency. And how much do we want to spend given the likelihood they will be injured much of the time anyway?

Don't agree with the expectation that they are constantly injured, any more than I agree with those that say that they are "Over-rated unnecessary indulgences" "Dinosaurs that the game has passed by" "Add little around the ground" " That they don't get that many clearances" "That taps mean nothing" or a decreasingly important due to the increasing-speed-of-the-game/introduction-of the-substitute-rule/removal-of-the-substitute-rule/the-shorter-duration-of-quarters/the-price-of-tea-in-china/whatever.

On the other hand, I agree completely that we need to get in a ruck who will be in peak form for our 2023 flag win, this thread took a bit of a look at the issue and discussed some options about 60 posts ago.

I think we should try to sign or draft Tony Olango.

If list sizes are cut, there should be a number of ruck prospects available as clubs are likely to cut their ruck number to 2, if they have enough tall utilities to fill the gaps.

I would still like to see how Amartey goes once he's injury free. He has the vertical leap to make up for his undersize for the position.

Guys, I don’t want to criticise KB and his team, but have we received any (even 1) top player via trade or draft over the last few years? Maybe Mills, but we keep playing him in defence. They either haven’t developed or been injured- it’s like we’ve been jinxed! Other teams have done a lot better and I’m not convinced that our current list has the potential we all thought. Ollie is case in point- has some talent but so inconsistent! Frustrating to say the least. We’ve had a great run but there doesn’t seem to be much joy in the near future- we need to play like a team and learn to pass properly- is that too much to expect from AFL players? How I miss Buddy!
