Is there any update on list sizes for next year ? Assuming that means salary caps are coming down ?
How are teams signing player extensions atm without this detail ?

Surely its only cutting the Cat Rookies etc ? Not sure what it achieves ?

Has to be a case of whatever the salary cap cut is, the existing ontracts are cut accordingly, i believe thats the current deal.

Wouldnt bother me to remove all the Cat rookies etc but wouldnt save much, need to get rid of having to elevate a player to play and nominating a long term injury, any player on the list should be good to play

Only worth shopping a pre-agent with a large back ended deal in a reduced salary cap
With the 3 listed for us, if they had, back ended deals we should extend and renegotiate that final year, all keepers

The shape is quite similar to my previous chart. And it looks like membership does track with crowds quite well, but then plateaus around 30000. Also there's a point where membership "takes off" but crowds don't follow, because not all members get to all games and venues have restrictions.

It could be, but how did we get the mindset that donations are required to keep a club afloat, since the AFL gives each club multimillion dollar funding, and there are caps on spend anyway. ?

Because its right across the AFL, this charity mindset must have been pushed by HQ.

Clubs are incentivised to operate at equilibrium.
No point have extra cash as it just affects the size of the AFL grant next year, you are best to spend everything.

Which also feeds into why the game is in such a state after less then 1 yr of poor revenue.

I would shop Hewett. Ok player but is too negative - will often take the sideways or backward option rather than moving forward. It was either Bounce or On The Couch that showed some fantastic vision highlighting this a few weeks back.

Papleys deal is more than I thought it would be which is even more a reason to dig the heels in if he asked for a trade.

Its actually good foresight by Sydney that contract, cos if you told me 2 yrs ago Paps was going to be in our top 5 highest paid I would have laughed.

Agree we need to keep him but id be saying 2 Top Ten Picks in the 2021 draft or Cripps involved. Basically ending the phone call.

As far fetched as that seems asking for Cripps, they are essentiallyasking for our best player when you consider current perfomance, age etc.
He will be every bit in the Brownlow with Cripps and the Coleman.

Two top 10 picks in the 2020 draft for Papley would be a good result I reckon.

Paps is our best player at the moment but 2 top 10 picks would significantly help our rebuild and hopefully we would get Buddy back next year who would be a handy forward line replacement.

I have been thinking about our midfield for a long time, but have been reluctant to voice my heresies. I think that we have been held back for a few years by our respect, regard for, and loyalty to, a handful of midfielders who have often been terrific, and occasionally game breakers, but have yielded both a rather one-paced midfield, and blocked opportunities for others. (Of course, I also think that the ruck situation has been part of this: against Adelaide having Naismith seemed to add a metre of pace to Parker.)

Watching Jones at work against Port was more troubling for me than watching Mitchell running around for the Hawks. I understand that there is a transition that has to be managed, but I can't see room, even in the short term, for four in and unders like Kennedy, Parker, Hewitt, and Rowbottom in the same 22, let alone thinking about Warner, or allowing the opportunity for players like Florent, Mills, hopefully Bell, starting in the middle and adding a bit of flair and threat. For these reasons, and as much as I like Hewitt, I think that he would be a great trade-out.

I liked what I saw of Ling on the weekend, and the goals that came from some run and precise kicking out of defence—Lloyd was better than he has been for a while, Aliir broke some lines and hit up team-mates nicely, and Dawson seemed composed, and has great vision.

and boy was I annoyed that none of the commentators on the Channel 7 coverage picked up that Mills started in the middle on the weekend. Surely it was the key tactical move of the day? I was jumping up and down with excitement. I think that someone mentioned it in the fourth quarter.
