The Hawks got end of first round because they were pick 18, and it comes after their first selection.
So, for the crows, after their first selection will be pick 3 (assuming the dogs get #1).
The length of the deal is a consideration as well as the $$. Article on AFL.com confirms this.

"Should the Saints' contract be large enough – roughly more than $700,000 per season – then Crouch's departure will net the Crows a pick (No.2) after their current first-round selection. But if the deal is less, then the likely compensation would gain the Crows an end-of-first-round compensation pick"

      Fair point!

If the Crows get pick 2 for Brad Crouch, a good but not great midfielder who polled one vote, yes 1 vote, in the Brownlow, that would be mental.

        1 whole vote.

Compo for Crouch MAY not match his real worth. If he had to be traded for, what is the most a club would pay in picks? Around pick 12-15 at best I'd suggest.

There is a clause the AFL has in the compo bag that says they can adjust a compo pick if the "formula" returns an anomalous compo. I'd suggest pick 2 is way too much in Crouch's case. Poor old Norf getting pick 2 shoved out to pick 3/4

And clubs (Bombers, GW$) will be coming for that pick 2 if the Crows get it!

Although Swans have a terrible record with pick 4

Maybe the talk of Alir to port May have some Merritt . If he was traded for say Hayes or Ladhams I think it’s a fair chance we would be targeting Grainger-Barras with our first pick

On SEN this arvo that is the consensus. At best end of the first round.

Been listening to SEN a bit today and no mention of AA. Why would we let him go?

We get our injured players back next season and Allir becomes more valuable as an around the ground utility. Can play off the bench in the ruck, forward or back and as a loose mid. Mad to trade him.

Be lots of players mentioned from every team . If your out of contract or have a year to run before free agency your name will get bandied around . Happens every year

I probably wouldn't let him go but if we take the trade period as an opportunity to improve the list quality as a whole, then it may work depending on what comes in the door.
Key defenders is an area that we are relatively well off in: Aliir, Melican, Brand, Rampe and the emergence of McCartin as a genuine option there so there is some room to move.

I’m not hell bent on trading Aliir. However, very few players are untouchable. If someone wants to give us “overs” for Aliir then you would hear them out.

I think he’s behind Rampe, McCartin, Melican and possibly Brand as key defenders. I’d rather the ball in Mills and Dawson’s hands kicking it out of there and we’ve got young Gould who will play a similar role to him being developed (or at least getting fit).

His most valuable role to us is in the ruck but he can’t be our number 1 so, at best, he plays in the 19-22 position in our list. Certainly not untouchable.

I wonder why PA let Dougal Howard go to the Saints if they thought they needed key defenders. In any case, Adelaide's Kyle Hartegan is a FA, why not pick him up for nothing? Doesn't even have to move house. PA do have Jonas and Cleary, but not a lot of depth in the KPD area.
