I don't think we're in any position to complain about draft concessions. We get it very very good from a draft perspective - there are reasonable reasons why, and it should remain as is for northern academies. But we are the last that should complain about sliding in draft picks.
Interested to see what we offer for Hickey. Perhaps a 2021 third round pick? Probably the least valuable asset we own to us.Comment

Saints have made out like bandits with Crouch! Paying him moderately and getting him for free in trade terms. I wish them well. Rather them than most other Melbourne clubs getting a bit of luck.
Great news re NGAs! I hadn't heard. Even better than the Crows not getting pick 2 as compensation for Crouch and us winding up with pick 3 ahead of Hawthorn. There have been a few things go right for us. I can live with having our pick 3 slip back one spot one time, especially given we benefit from the Academy. All opinions are not equal. Some are a very great deal more robust, sophisticated, and well supported in logic and argument than others. -Douglas Adams, author (11 Mar 1952-2001)Comment

For Hickey, I wonder if we could do something like:
In: Hickey, pick 34
Out: 2021 2nd roundComment

I like it. Gives us an extra 500 or so points this year and a ruckman.Comment

Tom Hickey to @sydneyswans will happen, but unlikely today. Trade means Nathan Vardy likely to get another contract at @WestCoastEagles - had a horror year which included time in hospital for compartment syndrome.

Is the fact the trade isn't going to be done today meaning the Swans are trying to get another pick from elsewhere to pass on for Hickey?Comment

I hope we're waiting to see if we can do a deal for someone else.Comment

Most likely there are dominos to fall one way or another before the trade is done. What they are is anyone’s guess. I doubt either party are playing hard ball but there is something in the pipeline that makes it more palatable for one or the other.Comment

That's a good move. If we incur a deficit, going from pick 45 to 60 is less impactful than 25-35 next year.Comment

That assumes Gulden won't be drafted in the first round. The first round of the draft currently has 21 picks and I'm expecting Gulden to be drafted in the 20-25 range."Unbelievable!" -- Nick Davis leaves his mark on the 2005 semi finalComment

So they got him for nothing and they are paying him littleComment
