    I wonder if it will sink in when Essendon get better than this years pick 29 for Fantasia, who hasnt hardly played and wont be getting a 4yr deal from Port

      Moves and expectations

      Sad to see Aliir move on, however doubtful he would command a 4 year contract at the Swans. With Rampe, Melican, Fox, Gould, McCartin, Mills and Dawson I perceive we have coverage in the tall defender area. (Albeit a few a medium backmen that play tall) Good luck to him and hope he enjoys the move. (and plays poorly against the Swans - Rolled eyes)

      We need a ruckman and if Hickey is cheap a 3 + 2 year contact is excellent. If we have paid overs will come out over 2-3 years... I feel the Swans have learnt to pay well with limits taps to advantage over the past few years and if Hickey can tap a few our way we will move forward and upwards.

      Extra points may allow selection of a good player and pick up our academy hopefuls without a deficit for 2021.

      Hope that is all the moves we see this year.

        The gaslighting surrounds Aliir. A player who was a week to week proposition in our best 22 has suddenly become Glen Jackovic or Ross Glendenning.

        In terms of Gray and Taylor, I was just making the point that certain posters will never be satisfied. They want us to play hard ball then criticise Dodoro for asking for the world and playing brinkmanship. What does Dodoro achieve besides everyone avoiding dealing with Essendon? Very little. (He has a triple omelette plastered over his face regarding Joe Daniher. Had he dealt with us last year he would have had pick 6 last year and pick 3 this year. Genius.)

          Glad your still happy to blindly follow the muppets at Sydney that offered up that deal.....
          I dont work at Sydney list management but i have been aware for a while now of the need to have points for Academy kids..... you typically sort that out in the previous Trade period. We did have 2x 2nd Rounders last draft

            The Age is reporting that the total list size will be a maximum of 44 ( inc Cat B rookies) and minimum of 37. I think we had 47 this year.

            At the moment we have 41 including several who are uncontracted and Elijah Taylor whose immediate future remains unclear.

              I think people would be a lot more satisfied if we didn't recruit duds like Taylor and Gray. We've traded a number of players who have blossomed elsewhere - I'm confident Aliir will be another one.

              Can only assume those bullish about Hickey haven't seen him play. He's 30 and a battler. The Eagles fans thought Sinclair was a gun when they lost him. They're about the same level. He'll play plenty of footy but I doubt he's going to improve us as much as some are hoping.

                Whatever debate we have on here, please don't cite that Dodo idiot from Essendon as a good example.

                The Bombers haven't won a final for 15 years. He gave two first round picks for an overrated mid in Dylan Shiel. He was too stupid to see we'd overpay for Daniher last year.

                There's something wrong in the head with that guy.

                  Also picked up points to help lock in our two Academy lads.

                  And still have pick 3.

                    I don’t mind Brand but definitely agree gray and Taylor have been very underwhelming to say the least. Wouldn’t be surprised to see Gray delisted and redrafted onto the rookie list

                        With the list size reductions, we can get our 3 draft picks and that's it. So no Paddy McCartin, unless we can reduce the list further. We will also have to move a few players from the primary to the rookie list.

                        Possible further list reductions:
                        1. Trade out today Ronke or Hewett. No news in the pipeline, so not looking likely. Ronke is also a candidate for the rookie list.
                        2. Terminate Elijah Taylor
                        3. Naismith retirement. Also a rookie list candidate.
                        4. We have a few players that might still be delist candidates, like McLean, Foot and Bell, but I would prefer to keep them rather than open another spot on our list.

                          i suspect Naismith will not play in 2021 at AFL level.
                          The downside is too much.
                          end of June 2020 he did his ACL.

                          so coming back to play in July or Aug doesnt make much sense on a second ACL recon vs extended rehab and being truly ready for 2022.
                          Rookie list instead?

                          picks as at now 12:38pm Thurs:

                          3 = 2,234 pts
                          25 = 756 pts
                          34 = 542 pts
                          60 =146 pts

                            Oscar McDonald | AFL

                            would it make sense to let go of say McLean and bring in Oscar Mcdonald for a pick 60?

                            given that we have lost a serious tall and given that Oscar is only 24yrs old and Rampes is 31yrs old next season and Brand struggled with serious injuries all season.

                            Oscar has played 80 games and was drafted pick 53

                            or pick Oscar up in the ND as we have pick 3 ?

                                Please NO! A mate of mine is a keen Melbourne supporter and he screamed every time Oscar played.......
                                No more mediocrity from here on. McLean has some potential and is a reasonable mark.
