    This is from the Age:

Increasingly now the noise out of North suggest they are more likely to hold the pick [two]. Recruiters believe the Roos are every attracted to Hollands, an outside midfielder who is an elite ball user able to play in multiple spots on the field.

Hollands was in my view BOG in the all stars game last year (ahead of Campbell) but I wouldnt take him as he is a similar style of player to him as well and we would be better placed to vary our recruits to include one of the higher rated big guys.

This is an extended package for Phillips and wow, it’s pretty bloody impressive. He’s tough, quick , uses it well by hand and foot, and wins contested ball at will. Tackling machine and tough to tackle to boot.

Would walk straight into our starting side next year and would complement our young midfield mix well. Phillips and Rowy the contested beasts (although not plodders) , Stephens & Campbell inside /outside hybrids with elite foot skills, gulden the outside accumulator, Blakey and J MAC the outside flyers with foot skills. I’ve probably missed some but that looks like a really good mix and a relatively quick midfield unit. Hollands would also add nicely to the mix as an explosive big bodied forward / mid.

Sure we need talls and if one of the top two rated are available it will be a tough choice, but we’ve got a pretty great opportunity to build a pretty special engine room that should serve us well into the future.
Looks a tough little unit. Odd kicking style, but OTOH can handball both hands which puts him in elite category for AFL! Perhaps a little similar to our Academy boys?

This link shows the scoring highlights from the Tipperary and Cork final. COR's speech at the end is beautiful.

Didn't you watch Phillips? If so, what did you see that doesn't appeal?

David Noble interviewed by the AFL didn't rule out trading pick 2 for a spread of picks, they do have a lot of vacancies to fill!

Nice post match interview with COR in link in post above

I'd be happy with Phillips too.

My preference would be MacDonald, Hollands or Phillips in no particular order . I think all have the potential to be 200 game players , and that’s what we need from our pick 3

(37 is the total for primary list I think). Are the 3 left on the rookie list (MClean, Bell and Amety) still ok for this list. and can we transfer 3 from main list to rookie list (havenot counted ET yet as a deletion.
                  THANKS
Clarification on list size announced by AFL (your recollection of a total senior list of 37 not quite right - we could have 38):

”The maximum list size for next year have been reduced from 47 to 44 which includes the ability to list up to two Category B rookies.

The minimum list size for each club will be 37, which can be made up by as little as 36 senior listed players and one rookie.

To reach 44, clubs can carry 36-38 senior listed players, four-to-six Category A rookies and two Category B rookies.”

Big moment for Tipperary breaking a long drought.. Nice to see COR acknowledge the Swans as well.. He's a guy with character- hope he cements a spot next season.

I've talked myself into believing that Hollands is much more than just a midfielder, so I won't mind if we take him. Phillips is good, but we will already have too many young midfielders. We will have to trade one or more of our better mids out if we draft Phillips. That's my only objection. Too many good mids; not enough spots.

Guys like Bell and Wicks will find it hard to get a fair shot at AFL footy. They might be good enough to play AFL, but they may not got a fair shot at the Swans and without much of an AFL record, are unlikely to get picked up by another club.

Yes. They chose Ling, who has a higher potential ceiling. Fair enough.

hmmmmm.......nice trajectory and ambitious rebuild in 2 to 3 yrs ?

i wonder if we have the same ambition to be a top 4 team by end of 2022 beginning of our 2023?

I admire your loyalty to our existing players but the strong likelihood is Phillips and Hollands will be much better players than Bell, Warner, Foot and Wicks (possibly already if not almost definitely by midseason). I would also wager that within a couple of years, they will be better than Florent and Hewett.

I strongly believe we take best available at 3, whoever that may be.

For me we get smashed in clearances way to often . We can blame that on our lack of a quality ruck . But that’s only part of the problem . The best teams run super deep and quality through the mid . We finished near the bottom for a reason we have lots of holes , a strong midfield is we’re our rebirth needs to come from .

                                It can be done.

                                * Brisbane Lions - 1998 wooden spoon, four grand finals for three flags 2001 to 2004.
                                * Hawthorn - 2005 14th/16, premiership 2008.

I think our trajectory will be a little slower, but we're not that far off being a good side again. We had several narrow losses to top sides including the two Grand Finalists by a combined total of 14 points.
