I’ll come back to it again. It’s absurd in regards to the way the AFL are headed in regards to hubs in possibly SEQ & Vic when it’s suggested that SA will have restrictions lifted by the end of May. The SANFL will have an up and running competition with possible crowds before the so called National competition

“A month without new COVID-19 cases is emerging as the magic number to trigger a widespread lifting of restrictions across SA, health experts and business leaders say.“

    So basically in 3 weeks

AFL news: Nathan Buckley’s message to Australia, Collingwood, coronavirus, COVIDSafe app | Fox Sports

Good luck bucks. I think you’ll be waiting a while for 40% of the population to download this app. Whether you’ve got it or against it I’d be shocked to see this happen. Singapore has virtually the same app and only 20% downloaded their app.

So if anyone is relying on this app to commence playing local footy forget it or move to the NT when restrictions are lifted on June 5 or move to SA when restrictions are expected to start to be lifted in approx 3 weeks.

The CovidSafe has no security or privacy legislated* for it, so its a no from me.

            * The government can change the app at any time without telling anyone, or requiring any appoval, and all departments can get access to the data through various metadata laws and treaties signed in the past.

I agree and Im Never going to get it. But for a leader of a football side to virtually be talking like they’re blackmailing you does not sound good.

“Ok, you want some freedoms and liberties returned? Download the COVIDSafe app and take the next step to earn it back,” Buckley tweeted.

That’s doesn’t sound like anything you’d expect to hear in Australia. Pretty sad to read tbh.

And does not reflect the data of central/western part of Australia.

And changes to restrictions that have been getting announced as we speak in NT & SA that I’ve linked previously.

Queensland announces NRL teams can resume training and borders open for movement of NRL teams.

AFL website on today's National Cabinet meeting seems to be making decisions at snails pace. It needs to makes some very quick decisions now or NRL will be a month or more ahead in resuming. Can't believe AFL has been shown up by the NRL circus!

Most likely due to Victoria being the preferred destination for a hub or the only hub. And with them not allowing wiggle room on the restrictions it’s going to be drawn out negotiations imo

AnD as I’ve said previously if you look at the data Victoria is not improving at the rate of most states. Community transmission finishes higher for the week than started, active cases fluctuating every day & every day finding new cases bar the 27th.

You mean that financially desperate circus who, like any big business or corrupt government, are prepared to put dollars ahead of public health and safety? It's the same reason the planet is doomed to fry itself but hey, some bigwigs will have lots of wealth.....great! All is well!

NRL = climate deniers. I've heard it all. There really are some unhinged people on here.

As has been mentioned I think the delay in the AFL announcing anything is because they want a hub in Melbourne but the Victorian government isn't easing restrictions yet. So we have to wait until May 11.

We all know that playing in Melbourne will be a huge advantage to the Victorian teams. However, on more than one of the footy shows it has been mentioned that there is no advantage because there are no crowds ????. They really don't get it.

Its rediculous!!! It’s the same as you keep hearing people talk down a hub in a different place from their home in Vic. We get it we know you have this idea if it’s played there you hope crowds will be allowed one day so you get your GF ticket. No matter which side you go for.

It’s nothing to do with health, fairness or being cheaper, better for players families etc and everything to do with keeping the status quo.

I don’t disagree at all about the media missing the mark, or the advantage side of it being played in Vic, that is 100% true.

What I will say though is How do they ( AFL) announce when they are going to recommence the season until their is an across the board consensus, Australia wide, on what is and isn’t allowed ?

Particularly when 10 of the teams are based in Victoria . I just can’t understand why it’s so hard for people to comprehend that. We’re in a pandemic, different States and territories are in different stages of it. More than half the teams are based in a state that is particularly strict with its restrictions Whether we like it or not that is the reality .

Why would the AFL promise something they may not be able to deliver ? Perhaps if you’re desperate, you do that. If you’re not, you play the long game and you work on your plan, and Reveal the plan when all the cards are on the table.

Maybe it is all a ploy for games to be played in Vic for the advantage of the Vic teams.

Or Maybe it’s a slightly more patient and pragmatic approach being taken by a business that is not in the dire financial situation that it’s main competitor is in. I guess we will find out in ( hopefully ) a weeks time !
