If we are delayed by the ten Vic teams refusing to temporarily move states then I doubt we'll see a season. Very annoying that the NRL is leading the wayComment

Plus the AFL will have a season as there is just way to much money to be lost without a season.
They also would be concerned that the SANFL will fill the void until October and then the NTFL from October if there’s no season.
If there’s no AFL some of the money left over by Foxtel & C7 that would normally go to AFL contracts will get thrown at the SANFL or another league to allow content for their services.
Like I’ve linked previously SA/WA/NT will have normal flights first. So it’s a very very remote possibility you could have a central west Australian football league.
The AFL know this but the Melbourne media cronies will never report on it.
The AFL do not own Australian rules football. If it ceases to exist tomorrow there would be another league to uptake that void.
But I’m certain we’ll get a restart. It’s not about health and all about money.Comment

6,799 Coronavirus Cases and 95 Deaths in Australia - COVID Live
Latest figures have Queensland with lower figures than Victoria. With this trend I can’t see how Victorian restrictions will be lifted to allow FIFO for Victorian sides.Comment

Isolation hubs are a little extreme, but one of the big benefits is they can withstand another outbreak or second wave much better a strategy of waiting for rates to come down and staying at home.
A stay at home strategy would probably see a stop-start season.Comment

I partly agree. Victoria is the biggest issue. If they had it under control I don’t think it would be a problem. Every other state is lowering every day except Victoria. By the time the season gets under way I hope Victoria gets its act together.Comment

Like I’ve said a few times. It’s an expanded VFL and always will be.

Boddo, there is more than one relative statistic on the link that you keep posting. You realise there is also more than one table on there ?
Percentage of active cases , number of tests done, percentage of positive results are some I would encourage you to take note of.

It’s the exact reason the Victorian government has not eased restrictions and it’s perfectly understandable.
Until they stabilise their active cases in conjunction with community transmission they will not ease restrictions.
The data does not show this issue for other states. In fact it shows the opposite. With NSW the next worst performing with regular new cases but a reduction in active cases over a week & a stabilisation of community transmission.
Next Queensland with a regular increase in new cases but a large reduction in active cases, even halving that in a week, and very good stabilisation in community cases.
Then Tasmania, WA, SA, ACT the NT.
The data reflects this.
And because this is a football forum talking about the issue of Victoria trying to be one of the hubs and/or the possibility of having sides being FIFO to other states the data does not show in any way shape or form of this possibly happening atm. As shown by the Victorian government disallowing this exact scenario to happen for the Melbourne Storm.
If your trying to paint a picture of me trying to make Victoria look bad due to any type of dislike of the place. I lived there at one stage and loved every minute of it. Would move back in a heartbeat if the wife wasn’t so ill.
As I’ve stated previously I would say the same thing about any state under the exact same circumstances.
In regards to Covid-19 it’s not and shouldn’t be a kick a vic thing. I have huge sympathy for what’s happening in every state attempting to control it. If Victoria gets it under control there, imo we’ll have a FIFO season. As I’ve stated previously.Comment

I know what I’m talking about I assessed these tables for a living at one stage. Victoria has not been able to stabilise active cases for a week, has consistent new cases for a week, has had a consistent rise in community transmission all week.

The below article says that no state or Territories , other than NSW and TAS, are currently recording ‘infectious’ numbers.

The issue relating to AFL restarting is due to current restrictions in place in Vic, not that the numbers are ‘out of control’. The government here is taking a decidedly conservative approach. This is what is likely holding up decisions on the re-start. And it’s frustrating, I’m living it so I know as well as anyone. But I won’t assume I know better than they do.

It’s not about a ‘ kick a Vic thing’ for me either , just claims like it’s ‘out of control’, when the stats on your table suggest it’s not the case at all.

And your link is yesterday’s news. To be exact 9am yesterday morning. I woke this morning hoping to hear good news about Victoria but sadly the new cases destroyed that. It’s why I’ve always posted on a daily rate because as most people know this can change from day to day. A good day today could have changed the Victorian trend.
They’re not out of control but they need to stabilise and it’s not happening in Victoria.
Decisions will be made by governments whether they are there or not. Andrews and Sutton could have spent the last 3 weeks in Alice Springs and their course of action would be the same. They read the data. They don’t walk down swanston street to get a feel for it.
It’s reading the data and the data does not show the improvement required to change restrictions. It’s not being conservative it’s how this will work.
That will change as soon as they stabilise active cases in conjunction with community transmission. Then Andrews will be able to get the feel of how people are coping with restrictions and a few days of good results will change that very quickly. Could happen by the end of this week very easily. Restrictions could ease. And hopefully for the AFL with data changing it also means a change to how the Vic government view FIFO games.
I say it because it’s what I’ve done previously in one part of my working life was assessing this type of data in health care so yes I’m pretty sure I do know a bit more than a few do.
Health care professionals at the top of the tree do not walk through ICU or a general ward or the local mall to get a feel for what’s going on. They read data plain and simple then if it’s a borderline decision will then consult with the next in line to get a feel for what’s happening.
Ill not respond anymore and I’ll leave it there as I believe this will turn into one of those circular arguments where I’m responding to the same thing over n over again.
Cheers n have a good weekComment

As of Thursday, some states will allow training, and some won't. If you aren't in those states, or prepared to move there, you are behind.
The warriors have relocated to Tamworth from another country in a "hub". How can the AFL say hubs are impossible?Comment
