He could be a beauty but I still don't know why we did not pick him up later. It appears he was not highly rated elsewhere so a pick in 30s would have also gotten the job done. Maybe they thought someone else was keen on him too?

Good luck to Sheldrick tho. Obviously drafted with Hewett moving on and JPK retiring in mindComment

I think that's a bit hard when a guy who only just got drafted 10 minutes ago however that said looking at his Hi lights he is a left footer but he kicks on the right when he needs to as well.Comment

I'm happy with Sheldrick and don't see him as high risk at all. On the contrary I think he's going to be really reliable but possibly with a lower ceiling. But I wonder why we didn't take Johnson?! Or at least attempt to make a profit by trading back a few spots to still take Sheldrick? (My guess: we weren't prepared for Johnson to be there, may not have done the work on him, and couldn't organise a decent trade to take advantage of the situation quickly. That's why pick 19 is so valuable.)All opinions are not equal. Some are a very great deal more robust, sophisticated, and well supported in logic and argument than others. -Douglas Adams, author (11 Mar 1952-2001)Comment

I'm starting to feel a little better about the Sheldrick selection. ESPN AFL Analyst Chris Doerre (Knightmare) is very high on him, even comparing him to Lachie Neale. Would love him to turn out like him!
He had him ranked at 11 in his power rankings, much higher than others.

I'll go and read up on him now!
Edit, Chris Doerre on ESPN wrote "At 179cm and 88kg, Sheldrick is strong over the ball and routinely wins first possession, works hard around the ground to receive loose ball gets, possesses an explosive burst of speed, shrugs tackles and tackles with intent, plays a strong two-way game and hits the scoreboard."
From the AFL website "Missed the 2020 season due to a collar-bone injury, but has made up quickly for lost time. Tested soundly at the NAB AFL Draft Combine with his 3.05 seconds for 20 metres and 8.36 seconds for the AFL agility run."
So he turned 18 just two weeks ago and missed the entire 2020 season, reckon there's plenty of upside and a lot there to like and a lot of traits the club valuesLast edited by 707; 24 November 2021, 08:38 PM.Comment

He's a true tough mid by the looks of it. Averaged 24 in rep games & 25 at Colts level. Can kick both feet. He's tough and nearly polaxed horne-Francis. what's more he kept the number 1 quiet in the state match WA v SA. I don't know a lot about him but these things do stand out. They scream ABILITY. Not only that but in the footage I have seen he tackles like Heens. Boys are goinna love this kid.Comment

This from someone who knows him well.
“Ripper. Bull of a footballer. Really progressed a lot this year through great attitude and determination. Played a lot inside mid but when thrown forward he would always kick a couple. Won colts best and fairest only playing 9 games. That was in a team that made the GF. Will be good there on the SCG”.
Read in to that what you will, but it’s enough for me.Comment
