Sheldrick: a cunning plan.
I do like the pick. Tough, with a reportedly very good attitude, who's moved himself up the draft board by playing quality football. Though I suppose we could quibble, whether we really need another inside mid?Comment

Far out!! A few surprises tonight. Alleer and Sheldrick especially. Both such ballsy picks to take them so early. All opinions are not equal. Some are a very great deal more robust, sophisticated, and well supported in logic and argument than others. -Douglas Adams, author (11 Mar 1952-2001)

In KB we trust.
And I’ll certainly trust his football knowledge over yours…
I’d say we’ve gone more needs based than we’ll admit, hunting for an inside bull we desperately need to be ready to lead us in the trenches in 2023….
Time will tell….Comment

Really strange pick. I think we look ok for inside mids, even with JPK retiring. More of a pressing need off HB or KP defender I would've thought. There's certainly nothing there that screams first round to me and agree we could've got him or a similar type player in the 30s. Wonder what that means for Angry Anderson too given he sounds a similar type?Comment

I'm starting to feel a little better about the Sheldrick selection. ESPN AFL Analyst Chris Doerre (Knightmare) is very high on him, even comparing him to Lachie Neale. Would love him to turn out like him!
He had him ranked at 11 in his power rankings, much higher than others.

From the AFL Draft live feed:
"Angus Sheldrick is certainly the bolter of the first round now. The WA midfielder was rated an outside 30 chance, but has shot up to land at Sydney with pick No.18. An inside bull, he'll fit nicely into the Swans' midfield."
Hope so!Comment

Love two things
* according to Doerre, went head to head to JFH in championships game and beat him, so that’s ok
* the media, once again, had no freaking clue what we were up to. They never do.'Delicious' is a fun word to sayComment
