Reminds me a bit of Harry Schoenberg, the Adelaide kid who produced a very good second half of the year and has a head concrete would fear cracking into. Looks a bit shorty, stocky, etc, but does two things: put him between a wall and the football, and the wall loses; and runs and runs and runs. And as someone mentioned earlier, a nice offset to the outside types we’ve recruited the last two years.

And don’t underestimate the value of a dual sided kick

If Sheldrick has already outplayed JHF when matched on him, that is very promising, and not a KB smokey at all.

        IN KB we trust.
Exactly. He was injured in 2020. That is why he played little footy. Came back in 2021. He played on Horne-Francis in the state match v SA and cleaned him up, in every way possible.

11 players will be taken before we pick again, who's left from Twomey's Phantom?

14- Johnson (WA) you'd reckon Freo would pounce at pick 21

15 - Draper (SA) South Adelaide team mate of the No.1 pick - do Norf pair them up again?

          16 - Sonsie

          18 - Goater

          19 - Butler

          22 - Motlop (WA)

24 - Howes (good mate of GWS pick 4 Callaghan)

25 - Conway (ruck) cousin to the McCartins

          26 - Zac Taylor who I'd like

          27 - Fahey GWS Academy

          31 - Knevitt

          32 - Bazzo

If Fahey is one of your 11, don't you need to add another player in?

I'd like Draper or Taylor for our next pick if at all possible. Could live with Sonsie, Motlop, Bazzo/Schlensog or even Conway or Lord. If we do want another mid, then a bigger type like Knevitt/Goater/Owens, or Roberts could be good options. But having gotten Sheldrick and with the prospect of Anderson later, I think it's better to hope for a skilful, versatile player.

Comforting to read mostly positive vibes here with us taking Sheldrick, who is considered a bolter with our first pick. Still clearly remember when we did similar drafting Ling, hearimg KB giving big wraps on him & how they needed to take him with their first pick. Alas Ling was proven.a bust due to his wretched curse with injuries.

Why didn’t we trade down 6 or 7 places with someone like Geelong? We give them 16 & 31 for 22 & 23

i would have thought we needed a 179cm player like hole in the head, why not johnson at 192. we can still get a def in bazzo. ablett from wa mentioned him in his early cross. Miotch knevitt also hoghly touted still available

First reaction….absolutely shattered. I cannot believe we didn’t take van Rooyen, Johnson, Goater or Knevitt. All those players we (supporters) wanted were still sitting there on the shelf like shiny, wee, early Christmas presents. But oh, no…not the Swans. Can’t even find a proper highlights package on this bloke. Hopefully we have drafted Lachie Neale in the body of Jarred Moore…but gee whiz I’ve got a bad feeling. Hopefully Bazzo still available at 31 or 33 or whatever. At least Josh Willoughby was an under age Australian rep.

Ok, everybody seems to agree that Cal Twomey is the draft guru and knows what teams need and who they will draft. But... he never gets it right when it comes to the Swans. Hmmm, it would be worth looking at his phantom drafts of the last five to six years and see who he had us taking at our picks, if they were available still when they got to us, and how they have fared compared to our Florent, Jones, Ling, Stephens, Logan and other non-academy first round picks.

pick 35 in Cals list was Angus our pick18 !

Do we suspect that Geelongs picks 22 and 30 made us jump ahead ? Given their strong interest in Angus?

ie maybe a couple months ago we thought we could pick up Angus with our 30s picks but that dream wasnt going to happen hence our leap forward?

Cal Twomey's Phantom Form Guide: Top draft prospects' November ranking

For me it is an interesting pick because we are in our window.
We have Bud, Kennedy, Rampes and Parker with us still.
Bud and Kennedy unlikely in 2023 to be with us or wont be at their top form you would suspect.
Therefore could we inject another hunter, scrapper, fighter into the mids immediately from the draft that would help our team function better?
Yes a strong inside mid has the greatest chance to do that...........while at the same time minimising the loss of Hewett and building our depth to replace Kennedy and PArker in the future.
The kid looks ready to rock bar injuries and via inside mid / small forward you expect he will feature in 14 plus games in 2022

I have been trying to find out some goss on Charlie Constable last few days who nominated for the draft?

I keep hearing rumours that we are one of 3 clubs interested with a later pick and as a defender? could be all hot air and wind but he is 192cm.

It pricked my interest as I thought he could make that transition to a Mills loose 3rd defender type role that could still play a role up front or mid when needed?

He is turning 23yrs of age and has been at a club that has been in 11 of the last 12 finals.........so a good training ground week in week out. Plus he would add a little experience along with Paddy look for their 2nd chapters of AFL ?

The list was only showing that there are at least a dozen players with good write ups still on the board, but yes I get your point. Saints also have two NGA's that could/should be bid on the 20's.

If we do like Corey Warner, WCE have picks just before our next two which is a worry, not only for us missing out but for luring big brother home :-(
