Matt Roberts! Excellent selection but surprised we've gone for another pure mid.

    - - - Updated - - -

I like that we at least had the option of Draper and Taylor. Still hope for one of them with our next selection - or Schlensog.

    - - - Updated - - -

AFL.com.au observed that we might not have gone for Taylor because he's similarly sized to Sheldrick (and Gulden and Campbell are both shorter too). But I don't think Roberts is that tall.

I thought after selecting Sheldrick we might not go for someone like Roberts but he was another pick I liked. Both highly reliable picks with high floors if not high ceilings/massive upside.

Roberts is a talent. Was pretty highly rated a few months back but slid late. Hopefully they were all wrong!

Matt Roberts is a bit of a slider. He's #17 in Twomey's phantom form guide.

How can the Crows go past Draper??

          - - - Updated - - -

I think we have been picking best available - not needs.

This profile of Roberts says that he's a hard worker, with a high footy IQ and is effective going forward. I get the impression that he could have been ranked a fair bit higher, if he didn't suffer a syndesmosis injury early in the season.

interesting type of Mid / HFF and was at pick 17 in cals sept 30 list !!

Outside type of player in the small data sample video

Wing, HBF, HFF > seems to love to kick and doesnt mind a goal

We've recruited talented South Australian prospect Matthew Roberts with Pick 34 of the 2021 NAB AFL draft.

              Midfielder/forward
              183cm/81kg
              31/7/03
              South Adelaide/South Australia

Roberts kicked two goals from 10 disposals in South Adelaide's preliminary final loss last week in another solid senior performance. It has been a good run of form for Roberts since he returned from his syndesmosis ankle injury earlier this year. Roberts has played in the midfield, on the wing and in attack at different stages this season and has been a consistent contributor for his side.

If we want a KPD there's still: Schlensog, Dean or Pegoraro.

As I mentioned, KB really doesnt rate the second-tier talls in this draft

Hmm, I'd like another tall. Jack Williams?

Pick 40 ... about where in a typical draft we pick up Brownlow medallists and other guns.

Can't believe both Taylor and Draper still on the board!

Mathew Roberts has already requested a trade to go home.
