Well, they appear to have plenty of this type to be honest, which is kinda why I'm surprised that Port is being spoken about as an option - Bonner, McKenzie, Amon. I know they're all a bit different but JD's game style doesn't strike me as a crushing need for their list.

Why not send him to Adelaide for pick 23 plus a player ... how about Fogarty or McAsey
You don't follow Crows games do you. Fogarty is a list clogger, McAsey is a high draft pick who has done very little, couldn't break into the weak Crows side this year and who Crows fans are nervously thinking is a bust.

If it has to be pick 23 then I'd prefer the addition to be a Crows future second to a Crows reject player. One that could interest is a pre season sign on at the Crows, someone? Murray, a KPD from the Riverina I think?, debuted against us in round 2, did ok until got injured, might be amenable to move to us as steak knives.

On the Port side, Ladhams is just not that good, an ordinary ruckman and has concrete hands as a forward, I hope he's not in any deal with Port and he did reject moving to us last year. Also may not be squeaky clean off field but no exact details to share here.

Nick Daicos probable pick 1 to Pies and ? Darcy probable pick 2 or 3 to the Dogs are the tied players that will push all other picks out two places. I saw live Norfs first pick Jason Horne-Francis play for South Adelaide in their final at Adelaide Oval on Sunday, played centre square and HF, very impressive for an 18yo against men, skilled, marks well, footy smarts, pace, fearless, walk up start in any team IMO.

Taking a while to announce the delistings. Usually happens shortly after Skilton Medal B&F night.

I'm not a member of Big Footy, so can't comment on there about it. But I wouldn't mind if some duel members would call him out on it.

Sounds like a job for Bangalore Swans to call out unethical practices.
Lol, ‘duel members’ sounds exactly what you need to fight on your behalf!

But it is very shoddy by the person concerned.

I wonder if Hewitt and stephens are priorities now the big fish is off the hook ?

I wonder if match committee are regretting all the times they played Bell over Stephens

Interesting to see that two teams that prefer to play a pair of ruckman (rather than part timers) will be contesting the granny this year.

I'll leave it to someone more knowledgeable to comment re: how many we have on the list, but some of the delisted players are likely to be on very close to the minimum wage anyway. So when they are replaced by new players (assuming we are running fairly close to the minimum number of players on the list and can't shrink it a little to save money), it won't actually release many $ per say.

JD & our Salary Cap got discussed on FC last night. Here is summary:

                        Matthew Lloyd
Believes Buddy's salary is cause of our cap squeeze and reckons we should have won a flag to justify his $$$$ contract. Convinced Hewett is going to Carlton & Stephens leaving as well. Listed players coming out of contract next year who we may also lose like Florent.

                        Caro
Believes it was unfair how we & GWS lost COLA, both being disadvantaged retaining players in the most expensive city. Stated COLA was applied fairly but Lloyd interjected believing Eddie's version that we'd rorted it somehow to get Buddy!!! (Like Eddie, showing no evidence this was the case). Note: Eddie was not on show last night. Only appearing on Wednesdays.

                        Hutchy
Reckons it's very unfair how Buddy is the ONLY player who's contract is not allowed to be renegotiated, considering the world post covid & reduced Cap. Stating if Buddy's last year of contract is allowed to spread over 2 years it may well extend his career.

Hutchy's statement drew my attention as I wasn't aware Buddy is the only player in the comp with his salary handcuffed like this. Thought this was the case with all RFA's?

I suspect its not solely a money thing. With JD going, we have a lot of cash to keep Hewett. It may be a list management thing, as we have a fair few decent inside mids.

Jeez, with JD going, Stephens and Hewett likely going, its looking like a rough trade period. I hope we get something decent in return...

As far as I'm aware it was only Buddy's contact subject to such conditions. It should be the case for all RFAs imho, and arguably for any contract above a pre-determined number of years.

The Fox Sports article this morning probably runs off much of what was said in that conversation https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/tea...816eaf3e61fdd9

If Stephens wants to run and hasn't got the willingness to stick it out and earn a spot in the first 22, we should let him go. I'm sure more than just the Colliwobbles will be truly interested, and we might be able to get an okay return for him (2nd rounder). I tend to agree with their analysis that we will still let Hewitt go.

Also, can someone please explain to me how Carlton can manage to pick up multiple players through trading year after year, many on very decent $ (otherwise why would they go there), but no one ever blinks an eye lid about how they afford to do so? Look I get they have a bunch of rubbish players on their list, but still!

It is going to be really interesting to see how the club manages it. I sense we may not seek much in return (in terms of other players), and may well seek to prioritise picks etc for next year's draft more so then this year's draft. Backing ourselves to tread water a little bit next year (as often happens with a developing list), relying on natural development of younger players to make up for some of the losses, while helping to create some wriggle room and flexibility to increase our ability to keep those on the list coming out of contract happy, and to start looking for trading opportunities to start filling some of the gaps on the list.

Lloyd is a moron. For Buddy to receive more than his 9% COLA allowance, it means the other players didn't receive their full 9%.
I can see it now ; in late 2013 many of the Swans playing group making a collective decision to forgo the 9% COLA allowance so
that some of the money due to them is paid into Buddy's account.
Luke Parker : "Sure, I don't know the bloke from a bar of soap and you're going to be paying him three or four times what I get, but
yeah give him my COLA allowance"
JPK : "Count me in too. Actually pay all my salary to Buddy. I'll tell my wife Bud is going to give me a signed Hawks jumper to sell
on EBay. I'm sure she'll be fine with that"
I always like how these jokers who say the Swans were "rorting" COLA have never once offered even the tiniest piece of evidence
or explained how this alleged "rorting" was actually done.
