They might keep Clarke if George goes?

It’s a fair chance we keep players like Clarke and Ronke. Not because we think they are going to miraculously become stars but because they are cheap, role players. They can help in a major injury crisis as well as ensure our reserves team are competitive enough to allow the younger players development opportunities. Each team has a list of 38+ players. Some of them must be on the list purely to play reserves and to fill out the last few base salary positions.Comment

Problem with Clarke is his role when he goes to seniors
Not many get it 30 plus in the ressies, id let him have a go as a ball winner and see what happens.
His disposal has a bit to do with his role and what he can and cant do.
Not sure if his disposal is poor in the 2s but Oliver was terrible kicking it for years but could always find it.Comment

The difference between Oliver and Clarke is stark. For starters Oliver was amassing the se touches in the seniors, whilst Clarke was in the two's. To my knowledge, Clark has only had one game in the seniors where he has collected over 30. Not saying that Clarke is all bad, but in today's game if you cannot use it, you are left behind. Clarke is a good run with player, but in keeping him it will all depend on how much he costs and for how many years.Comment

Irony is look at Hewitt who hed likely replace, Hewitt as a tagger is good but he can justify his role in the team as a ball winner, given the chance like he got later in the year.
Clearly form in the 2s doesnt count for much otherwise Taylor would have got more gamesComment

I must be in the minority as I believe both Fox and Melican are only squad players, not top 22. Both will not improve their skills and certainly not key position players. We need both in our list however as they cover injuries. Melican seems to be on his heels most of the time and can't hold a KP. Fox has pace and puts in 100% when he does play but isn't the future of the best 22 in our next premiership side. These are my thoughts and I'm sure other RWO's will disagree. Hey, that's what this forum is all about. Go Bloods

I hate being even a little negative about our players and I do see positives with Clarke, but I feel he is a desperate last call up when he gets in the team.
The good thing is he can run all day every day. The bad thing is what he does with the ball when he gets it.
If it's pure run with, pick him. If it's a footy player we want in, don't.
I cannot remember a time watching him play, even in the two's, that I don't have a meltdown with his delivery. Both hand and foot, even hacking it forward....

The salary cap means that you have to have below average players on your list. The average salary on any list is something like 330k. You have to pay your best players well above that. It means that you have to have players on your list who are below average in ability and output but also well below average in pay. Someone like Clarke who can never be questioned for his effort is a really good below average player to have on our list.Comment

Not quite comparing Clarke to the favourite for the Brownlow but the point is he is a ball magnet. If he is allowed to just go get it and not be negating, he may, or may not justify his selection in the team. It was an opportunity I would have given him.

I wonder how much salary cap space Carlton has got up their sleeve? Re-signing Walsh, McKay and Cripps is not mean feat. Are the brown paper bags back in vogue?Comment

FWIW, a poster from BF claims that Ling has been delisted. The poster doesn’t follow the Swans and from what I can tell has a history of posting correct info about Matt due to knowing the family or player personally.Comment
