Caj23, that was very sad about Mummy, but we had cap issues as everyone knows. At any rate, hopefully the club has learned from that mistake, we hope! If George leaves, it will be due to $$ from the Blues (how can they spend so much) that we can’t match.Comment

Just saw COR down at Bronte Beach Park.
Looked like he was loving life and enjoying watching the waves crash into the majestic Bronte Beach.
He didn’t check his phone once.
Looked like a man who had found what he was looking for.
Has he committed to the club for next season?Comment

Stephens is a light bodied high endurance player. They take almost as long as a KPP to develop. McVeigh and Scully are good examples.
In confident that by the end of this extended contract, we'll be much more determined as fans to re-sign him.Comment

Good news, the club just works away out of the limelight signing required players.
Be really interesting to see what moves we are planning, now that Dawson has gone we may have some flexibility.
Think Paddy McCartin for free and his potential upside shouldn't be missed.Comment

Massive upside, balls in his court now to nail down a spot

Swans Players whose Official Contract Status not 100% confirmed yet:
(After the Official announcement on 17/9)
4. Clarke - good depth player to retain
18. Sinclair - possibly depends on if we can recruit a younger genuine ruckman
20. Reid - Can he be shifted to a back up tall defender (He was one when recruited)?
25. Ronke - ???
29. Hewett - Restricted Free Agent likely to leave
32.Bell - reaching his trigger for a one-year extension for 2022
According to SWANS CAUGHT IN TRIGGER UNCERTAINTY , "(Clubs) believe that the AFL is likely to indicate that all games by medical substitutes, regardless of them taking the field, will count towards trigger clauses being activated but no concrete ruling has been confirmed as clubs look for clarity." James was one as reported on Aug 5. Since then he played the EF. Should be triggered then.
34. Dawson - Requested trade - will the trade be completed?
35. O'Connor - 2nd Year Cat B Rookie now back in Ireland. Will he stay as a 3rd year Rookie?
38. O'Riordan - Reported to have been extended for one year (no official announcement yet)
See Swans Move On Irishman
45. Wicks - Previously Cat B Rookie, 1st year Cat A in 2021. "On the verge of an extension "(See the same report of O'Riordan).
46. McAndrew - mid-season Rookie drafted in June ( I believe he was signed on a 18 month contract rather than a 6 month one. So should be still contracted for 2022)

Very happy with the news today.
Clearly disappointed to lose Hewett and Dawson but we go into the draft with probably two first and two second rounders. And losing Hewett and Dawson opens up opportunities
Also happy to see Gould, McLean and Fox re sign though I expect Reid will seek opportunities elsewhere.
Can’t see this derails any chances we have of improving further next season
Think we can all relax nowComment

What is interesting now is that it seems increasingly likely that we will in the market to acquire players, not only to ship some out. Who will we chase? There has been impressively little talk about this. I think we absolutely have to sign at least 2 KPPs (probably both tall defenders). Hopefully Paddy and one other ready to play. We could safely draft more talls for the future too.
I keep wondering whether we'd be any chance of getting Harrison Petty but our chances of tempting him were higher when he wasn't getting a game. Might depend on whether he believes he will continue to get games after Tomlinson returns from injury next year. Brander is one I have wondered about but it seems that West Coast and their fans really don't rate him so maybe he's not worth chasing.

What about Robbie Tarrant as a stop gap? Or do we have no need to bring in such old players? And would he even be interested to come to Sydney? All opinions are not equal. Some are a very great deal more robust, sophisticated, and well supported in logic and argument than others. -Douglas Adams, author (11 Mar 1952-2001)Comment

The 4 signing today are so important to the continuity of our game plan. Stephens is particularly important because of the loss of Dawson and Ling. It's a shame about Ling. He seemed to have so much talent and KB was so keen on him that he passed on Jack Higgins, Ed Richards and Noah Balta. We also extended his initial contract to 3 years before his first season started. I would have never guessed it would have ended like this.
Stephens and Ling share much of the same talents, even both being left footers. We need to get Stephens to do what JMac is already doing. If we have the 2 of them running the wings plus Blakey, slower teams will have something to fear.
If we sign Sinkers and Reid it will be on 1 year low salary contracts. I can't see why we would play them unless we had a slew of injuries. But it's more probable that Reid will be the one on the injury list if we had to pick the most likely.'Delicious' is a fun word to sayComment

Re our list cloggers, who knows but here is my predictions
- Sinkers will be retained on minimum wage as emergency back up. Solid clubman and all round critizen
- one of Clarke, Ronke and Reid to be retained as we have one eye on resigning players next year
So we have Dawson, Hewett, Ling, Brand and two of the above to make six delistings from the senior list.
Fox and Wicks to be upgraded with two first rounders and two second rounds at the draft?Comment

We often take a delisted player back as a rookie selection. Would love that to be Ling but after the way this season fell away for him, that's unlikely. All the best to him, he seemed like a popular guy around the club.
Losing Dawson must mean we have incremental money to acquire someone from the market. Hewett they don't appear to have offered a contract - so I'm assuming his money is already distributed to other contracts in outer years. So it's not going to be huge money available, but perhaps enough to get a good player not getting the opportunities they deserve at a good club. Like how we got Mummy.Comment
