Reid to continue on in 2022
We're not always aware of the story behind why players drop off. It may well be that Ronke has had a bad run with injuries that hasn't allowed him to regain the form he showed a few years ago. If he can get a solid run of training and playing time, he might well bounce back. I recall Dawson having a couple of tough years with injury, and we know what happened after he got continuity in his training. I think what they like about Ronke is his determination. He really wants to succeed and is willing to do the work.

Yes I think this must be the case, Ludwig. As others say, I am a little surprised they gave him another year. He really has struggled since that initial burst. To me, he is one of those players who runs around a lot but doesn't have the natural ability to read where the ball is going and the poise to do something constructive with it when they gain possession. Lets hope he proves us all wrong in 2022!

Like everyone I'm surprised by Ronke getting another year, Reid was always getting a contract as he's a proven if somewhat fragile commodity and BOC has the potential to be a key player but has had a dreadful two years trying to learn the game.
        Clarke and maybe also Bell.

Always been a Ronke fan myself, but that's no doubt partly due to being present at the 'G the night of the Ronke Miracle. He's fast and skilful and they're not talents it's always easy to find. Hope he gets a good run at it.

By my calculations, if we keep Clarke and Bell, we can recruit Paddy McCartin, take 3 in the ND plus Anderson as an academy listing. That would bring the list total to 44, including Naismith. The same as this year. Naismith will be on the LTIL, so we would still have room to add another player in one of the supplemental drafts.

Maybe it's because Taylor is on a bigger pay packet, so helps the TPP.

I like him too, but he has never come close to that level since, and was frankly awful in the game he did play this year. I just thought it was an obvious end of the line - but would love him to prove me wrong!

Taylor to the rookie list to give flexibility at the ND.

Hmmm, I've been wondering what that means exactly, I doubt we have our eyes on a player at what will be a mid 60's pick, bearing in mind they get a two year contract at the ND.

Rather, it says to me we are keeping pick 70 live for the ND just in case Angus Anderson gets a bid, then we'd need a late live pick to match or we miss out on him. If he doesn't get a bid then we can add him as a Cat B rookie but we're covering all bases and the vacant main list vacancy does no harm.

Ronke has great endeavour and speed but his foot skills have been ordinary so far.

Yes and his composure hasn't improved.

But, he was injured for two thirds of this season and a bunch of last season. So if they have a list spot available, I think it's reasonable to give him another year to see what he can do if he stays fit, with a full VFL season to build on.

Yes, it is a bit of a strange one. Early in his career, I used to love watching Ronke play: mainly for his frenetic chasing, to put pressure on the opposition rebounders. But after a while, he seemed to be chasing after them, with the same intensity, but not often catching them. And in attack, in the amount of time that it took for Papley to get a shot away, Ronke would still be trying to corner the bouncing ball. So I don't know what happened there?

Hopefully he comes good again. Maybe management decided to keep him on, as a backup pressure forward, if Wicks gets injured?

Ronke was sensational that night and looked like becoming the next big success story from a lower draft pick but I must pull you up on one thing, he is not skilful, his skills are probably the lowlight of his make-up!

That game against the Dawks was unbelievable. I remember Bruce McAvaney asking “where did this kid come from?”
Sadly, he has never ever got anywhere near that form, so it must be due to the injuries he’s had. I think his kicking is still a major weakness but he must be showing something to be given another year. I guess the club wants to give all our players a fair opportunity, which is commendable and shows we’re more than just a business.

Now it’s Clarke and Bell- I imagine 1 year extensions too if we can fit them in. Clearly mainly for VFL, but a bit of cover with Clarke, as at least he can get the pill and can tag a bit if needed.

Pretty sure Bell already has a contract for next season.

No. 37 and no. 39 not used in 2021, the former for obvious reasons

                                Current vacant numbers are - 2, 15, 19, 29, 34, 37, 39, 40

Give Corey Warner number 2 next to Chad :-)
