There's no way we should touch Dusty. He'd demand big coin and can't get on the park atm. Reminds me a bit of Hannebery (who will always be a Swans' legend).
I'm all for going after a Hopper or Zurhaar or Taranto type player if the price is right. They're young and can play and could compliment our existing list nicely.Comment

The Hun is alleging (without providing any further information) that we have an interest in Logue at Freo.

Maybe Melican more than Gould. Melican is a FA next year and might ask for a trade this year. If we recruited Logue, then we would likely let Melican go. I have no idea what Gould would be thinking now. Is he in demand elsewhere? Can some other club promise him a starting spot? Is he happy to wait his turn at the Swans? Hard to know. I think O'Connor will be delisted. We could be shedding key defenders over the next couple of years, so we need to find replacements either in the draft or recruits.Comment

I was just thinking as driving along in the car today
If we lost say Chad......to say an ACL......and he was gone for 12months who would replace him and his current very direct explode from the contest role?
Secondly would it make that much of a difference to our finals campaign? I look at what Carlton lost when Sam Walsh went from borderline elite to not there due to injury and Carlton just didnt have the same impact. They didnt keep building the same and making it very hard for opposition match ups.
I mulled this over because i felt that most teams are fairly fragile and not resilient come finals if they loose a key chess piece or two from the table. This is despite all organic growth arguments being good enough to win a GF.
Kennedy could come in and replace the Chad and do a job beyond probably better than anyone else on our list.............but if we didnt have Kennedy next year I sensed we are a bit exposed and could definitely benefit from one more addition to our list that is close to elite...........well if we truly want to 2023 serious contenders......that is !
If we had the $ for Dawso.........and we didnt match it.........couldnt this money still be on the table ? Couldnt this money be allocated to speed up our competitiveness in a key role?
I would argue that we would NOT have lost a game like against the Bombers if we had that slightly more complete experienced 22 with a Dawso on board playing his amazing role like he did for us in 2021. Just making it so hard for a @@@@ty team to break us down as they doint have the weapons against a Dawso in our backline. I mean I love Foxy but he has nothing one what Dawson 2020/21 gave us on shut down and counter attack.
Just making it so much easier to make it irrefutable that we more than a threat........equal 2nd and sitting a win aheadLast edited by Auntie.Gerald; 25 July 2022, 04:25 PM."be tough, only when it gets tough"

covered for a GF win ?
I mean lets get real
We are in the window and I would have kept Dawso in a heart beat to INCREASE our probability of success.
I dont think this has been replaced at all yet we openly told the marketplace via Tom H that we wanted to keep him and could have.
If we could have replaced Dawso's role no probs at all and we keep walking.
But we have not and if we cant we need to lift again in another area........otherwise we will all look back on 2022 and maybe 2023 as years that could have been..........
I mean if Dawso in our backline couldnt contribute to one extra win and provide us a better chance of a definite top4..............i would be amazed
He certainly did in 2021
But now that is gone and i dont think we have truly replaced a player with that type of impact.....
for me that is a weakness in our best 22............not a strengthLast edited by Auntie.Gerald; 25 July 2022, 04:36 PM."be tough, only when it gets tough"

You’re writing as if Dawson was let go willingly, as if the club didn’t kick and scream and beseech and beg.
And as if players like Dawson are running around in our clubs’ reserves, waiting to be recruited.
I don’t think there’s any doubt we’d be a better side right now with Dawson in the team. But we don’t.Comment

Pretty sure i was talking both........ and the gaps that are left vacant for contesting a 2022 / 2023 title and making sure we are giving ourselves the absolute best chance while in a window
leaving no stone unturned.........I realise that Dawso was not easy to keep and it was 99% we couldnt...........that is obvious
What I have been banging on about was that we let Dawso and Hewett go
We said we made a great offer for Dawso to stay
We are in a window
But we are not really showing that we have replaced their talent nor given we are knocking on the door of a GF............we havent replaced like for like impact......ie Dawso went but oour backline doesnt look better nor more commanding come finals
Why is that ?
