Late picks might be useful in a pick swap with Brisbane who want points for their two father sons

Yes, reading my post back, I didn't really make it clear what I wanted. Which is a pick upgrade or two, rather than extra picks.

That way, we could increase our space to upgrade a rookie or two, and have a slightly higher ability, to hopefully nab a future star at the draft.
These guys are still young and have ability, hence needed for depth. Of course, if they think they would get more games elsewhere then they may put their hands up, but realistically they would only get a look in at a weak team.
So they may as well stay with us, even if it means playing VFL most of the time.

I tend to agree. They are all useful depth players but possess deficiencies. McLean and Melican are pretty one dimensional players. McLean has good hands but next to useless when the ball hits the ground. Melican can spoil but takes few intercept marks. Ronke can be dangerous but is hot and cold. They would probably struggle at most teams but North and Adelaide might be interested as they could potentially play in the firsts there.

I really rate Cunningham and his contribution over many years and he seems a decent bloke too (from his media appearances).

GWS are looking like they will lose four players plus spend big bucks on the Pies ruckman.

Maybe they would take Cunningham as a cheapie replacement plus picks for Torranto or Hopper?

Cal Twomey's first phantom form guide for the draft this year has dropped. He has gone in strong on Reuben Ginbey and relatively cool on Elijah Hewett, compared to other form guides out there. Of course it will all change over coming months but it's not too soon to start paying attention.

They spent big bucks on Preuss, and are in serious cap trouble already - Cornes must be smoking the medicinals, why and how could/would they take Grundy?

Twomey gets the inside running on info and opinions from club recruiters. His Phantom is scarily close to what happens. You'll notice every other Phantom draft comes out after Twomey has published, he identifies risers and sliders then others follow his lead. So take this effort from Twomey as close to what recruiters are thinking. Some nice players (write up wise) around our picks.

I am so death riding the Dees, particularly now they are having a bad patch, if the unthinkable happened and they finished out of the top 4 it would be great. We deserved more for Dawson.

Worried that the AFL may over reward Norf with a high PP or a couple of later ones to muck us up.

Thanks for sharing the draft projections. It's disappointing that not one of the projected top 25 is from NSW (our most populous State) and just one from Qld. The AFL has a long way to go in obtaining a more even distribution of emerging talent.

Actually this is Twomey's first form guide for the year, and the others predate his and so they are not following his lead. Chris Doerre in particular prides himself on being completely independent and a bit of a maverick.

Also, don't confuse Twomey's form guide with his phantom draft. They may both be based on what he hears from other recruiters but it's the phantom draft that tends to be highly accurate for the first 10-15 picks. The form guide is more a reflection of his personal opinions.

This is why I'm of the opinion any priority picks granted by the AFL should NOT come from the first round to help maintain its pecking order. However of course, F/S, Academy and FA compensation picks do also disrupt first round pecking order, so not sure what the solution is to preserve it.

At least with the AFL introducing rule clubs can' t now match top 20 bids on NGA players does help to reduce impact on first round pecking order. Better still if they got rid of the entire farcical NGA entirely, which was a Eddie led campaign in retaliation to the legit Nortthern Academies.
