I agree. In fact, I think that’s the reason he put the contract negotiations on hold. If we manage to win the flag, he’ll go out on top.

A dream scenario....let's hope it happens. Bud would be happy to go out on a high one would think.

Interesting tidbit from Sam Mitchell on Footy Classified. The current Hawks coach stated that Josh Dunkley was training with the Hawks as a 16 year old, where he was known as "super kid"
Suggests to me a more active effort to avoid the Swans by dad, than we realised at the time.

I dont know if you could interpret that - if the most successful club in the past ten years in the town where I now live offered my 16 year old to train with them , I would say yes in a heartbeat , irrespective of my feelings for my old club.

All the kids in the AFL academies train with at least one, usually at least two, clubs for one week stretches during their U17 and U18 years. It's part of the programme. And it's rare for players to be sent interstate*. So the Victorian based underage players will train with one or more Victorian clubs during their time.

*One exception that I know of is that Hayden McLean spent one of his training blocks at the Swans. So when the club selected him a couple of years later, they had some first hand knowledge of him.

Mills just signed on for another 6 years! Wow. Now to lock in Paddy, Lloyd and Fox.

                Here it is!

Mills extension a boon for Swans

I wished they waited until after the finals to sign off on the Mills deal. Every time a player signs a big contract they have a bad next game. The Warner brothers, between them, only had 19 possessions last games. I don't keep track of these things, so I can't give any other specifics, but it just seems to happen that way.

Fox is still on the rookie list!

By that logic, Buddy secretly signed a nine year extension last week.

Did Hawthorn 'offer' or did Dad approach them? Who knows. All we do know is that Dad is rather bitter.....which is sad.

What does that mean for retaining Fox? I have no idea about the rookie list v our main list? Not being a smart ****, just genuinely ignorant of differing contract rules. Fox has been a gem and I'd hate to lose him.

Didn't we lose a rookie to Collingwood (because they offered a senior list place) a few years ago.

Poor fox. Has low key been @@@@@@ by the swans. Has proved multiple times he’s best 22 only to be dropped and/or rookie listed. Glad he’s having a break our year and hope he’s appropriately compensated
